The disclosed subject matter generally relates to a lighting device including at least two optical output modules for jointly providing transformable output light. The transformable output light is transformable a diffuse light output and a light output that has higher contrast than the diffuse light. Accordingly, the inventors realized that an enhanced user experience for vehicle occupants is provided by a lighting device that can seamlessly transform its output light between diffuse light to more high contrast light. For example, a vehicle interior component may be illuminated with a diffuse light when it is in one state, e.g. when it is not used. In a second state, when the component is used or intended to be used, it may be illuminated with a high contrast light to provide the user with more helpful assist light.

LIGHTING DEVICE, AIR CONDITIONER, AND CONTROL SYSTEM

An air conditioner includes a housing including an illumination opening at a position viewable by a user; a blower provided in an airflow path connecting an inlet and outlet; a light emitter provided in the housing viewable through the illumination opening and including a light incident portion to receive light emitted from a first light source and a first light emission portion to emit first light generated from the light and including light simulating natural light; and at least one light extractor emitting second light that is part of the light received by the light emitter that reaches an edge portion of the light emitter without being emitted as the first light or second light received from the first light source or a second light source different from the first light source without intervention of the light emitter. The at least one light extractor is provided in the airflow path.

LIGHTING SYSTEM

In a lighting system an optical fiber includes a light incident portion, a light emerging portion, and a wavelength-converting portion. The wavelength-converting portion is provided between the light incident portion and the light emerging portion. The wavelength-converting portion contains a wavelength-converting element which is excited by excitation light and amplifies a spontaneous emission of light, having a longer wavelength than the excitation light, with an amplified spontaneous emission of light. A first light source unit makes the excitation light incident on the light incident portion. A second light source unit makes seed light, which causes the wavelength-converting element excited by the excitation light and the amplified spontaneous emission of light to produce a stimulated emission of light, incident on the light incident portion. A lighting unit, into an external space, light emerging from the light emerging portion of the optical fiber.

LIGHTING UNIT AND LUMINAIRE

A lighting unit (100) for a medical luminaire (150) has a number of groups of LEDs (110, 110′, 110″) that are connected to a common planar printed circuit board (115). Each LED (112, 112′) of at least one of the groups (110, 110′) is associated with a respective optic (122, 122′) by which a respective LED-optic pair (120, 120′) is formed. The respective optics, based on the structure (328), specify a tilt angle (125) of a central light beam axis (124, 124′) of an emitted light beam of the LED optics pair in a tilt direction (627) of the respective LED optics pair. The tilt direction is defined such that the respective light beam axes of the emitted light beams of the LED optics pairs from the at least one group of LEDs are at least partially skewed in pairs with respect to one another.
