A planking exercise belt assists the user in performing a planking exercise regimen by alerting the user when a proper plank position is not maintained during performance of the regimen. The planking exercise belt includes a belt that is adjustably secured about the user's lower torso and waist. An adjustable strap interconnects the belt and a weight. A connector is provided on the belt to removably attach the strap to the belt. When a user droops or does not engage their core muscle groups, a tension in the strap is relieved to alert the user to the poor form in performing the exercise. When the user elevates their buttocks, the weight elevates from the ground to alert the user of this improper form.

Presented is a strap system for use with a barbell. The strap system includes a flat elongated flexible body having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first loop, and a second loop. Further, the strap system also includes a third loop configured parallel to the first and second loops in a midway along the length of the flat elongated flexible body. The strap system further includes a first and second connecting assemblies that connect the first loop to one end of the barbell, and the second loop to another end of the barbell, wherein upon connecting the first loop and second loop of the strap system to respective ends of the barbell, a user can lift the barbell using the strap system either on the user's back or shoulders, or on the user's waist region using a dipping belt to perform one or more exercises.

This improved resistance-based fitness apparatus may be transformed in multiple temporary yet stable shapes by the user, such that the all or some apparatus subsections may move freely be immobilized in a fixed position or manipulated by the user into various shapes. An improved joint-based connector apparatus is further described herein which may enable the improved resistance-based fitness apparatus described herein to be transformed into multiple temporary yet stable shapes with subsections that are either freely moving, immobilized in a fixed position, or a combination thereof. This improved joint may connect one or more objects while also providing for three-dimensional non-coplanar movement that may be selectively locked or unlocked at a variety of angles by a single activating action (e.g., pressing a button). The improved joint may also be fashioned into useful devices in various other arts beyond the fitness arts.
