Physical therapy mobilization belt and method of use
10463903 · 2019-11-05 · ·

Disclosed is portable and easily securable mobilization belt for performing physical therapy on an affected joint comprising a continuous loop of inelastic woven material. The loop comprises an expanded section for securing in a door jamb and a cushioned section for contact with the patient's affected joint. Alternatively, the loop can be secured by wrapping around a vertical stanchion of a heavy piece of furniture or other solid object that will not move. In use, the affected joint is placed in the loop adjacent the cushioned section. With the loop taut, the patient provides resistance against the belt to create mobilization of the affected joint.

PORTABLE AND FOLDABLE GLUTEUS MAXIMUS BRIDGING AND HIP THRUSTING EXERCISE APPARATUS
20190299045 · 2019-10-03 ·

An apparatus that satisfies the need for a portable and foldable exercise equipment to perform glute bridge, hip thrust and other resistance band exercises without the need for additional equipment. The apparatus includes opposing panels hingedly connected, and accommodations to affix resistance bands to the panels. A cross member is preferably hingedly connected to one panel and extends through an opening and engages the other panel. A resistance band may include an adjustable belt so that a user may securely fasten himself or herself between the opposing panels and the resistance band to perform the glute bridge, hip thrust or other exercises.

Methods of adjusting stiffness and flexibility in devices, apparatus and equipment

A resilient rod that provides adjustable directional resistance is disclosed. In one aspect of the invention, a resistance level may be determined based on a thickness of the rod and a position of an applied force with respect to a fulcrum point. In another aspect of the invention, at least one spine may be attached to the beam to increase a diameter of the beam along one axis. A resistance level may be determined based on a thickness of the rod, a position of an applied force and an orientation of the at least one spine with regard to the direction of the applied force. In other aspects of the invention, the resilient rods may be incorporated into various equipment that provide for adjustable resistance levels. In still other aspects of the invention, the resilient rod may be incorporated into medical devices that provide adjustable support for injured limbs or joints.

Described herein is a muscle trainer including a first and a second curved, elongate spring element, the two spring elements being arranged with their concave sides facing each other, having joint elements at their respective end areas and being connected to each other at their two end areas via joints formed from the joint elements. Also described herein is a method for producing such a muscle trainer.

MUSCLE TRAINER AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF

A muscle trainer comprising curved, elongate spring elements is disclosed. The spring elements are arranged with facing concave sides and include end areas formed at each of the ends of the spring elements. The muscle trainer includes a first joint element being formed at a first end area of each spring element and a second joint element being formed at a second end area of each spring element. The spring elements are connected at their two end areas via joints formed from the joint elements. The first joint elements are designed as brackets having a bend in the direction of the concave side of the respective spring element and in each case at least partially enclosing the second joint element of the respective other spring element. A method for producing the muscle trainer and its use as a hand trainer are disclosed.

SOFT ROBOTIC HAPTIC INTERFACE WITH VARIABLE STIFFNESS FOR REHABILITATION OF SENSORIMOTOR HAND FUNCTION

A pneumatically-actuated soft robotics-based variable stiffness haptic interface device for rehabilitation of a hand includes a body having a flexible outer wall and a cavity defined by the outer wall, the outer wall including a plurality of grooves configured to receive a fiber wound around the outer wall. The device further includes a pneumatic actuator in communication with the cavity and configured to provide pressure to the cavity.

HYBRID RESISTANCE SYSTEM
20190134448 · 2019-05-09 ·

A resistance system, which can be suitable for incorporation in exercise equipment, is a hybrid resistance assembly having at least a first and a second resistance unit. The first resistance unit can be of a first type and the second resistance unit can be of a second type. The first resistance unit can be an inertial resistance unit, which incorporates an inertial load that creates resistance influenced by the inertia of a movable mass, such as a rotatable flywheel. The second resistance unit can be a static or non-inertial resistance unit, such as a displacement resistance unit, which incorporates a load that creates resistance influenced by displacement (e.g., linear or rotational displacement) of an input to the displacement resistance unit.
