Methods of adjusting stiffness and flexibility in devices, apparatus and equipment

A resilient rod that provides adjustable directional resistance is disclosed. In one aspect of the invention, a resistance level may be determined based on a thickness of the rod and a position of an applied force with respect to a fulcrum point. In another aspect of the invention, at least one spine may be attached to the beam to increase a diameter of the beam along one axis. The resistance level may be determined based on the thickness of the rod, the position of the applied force and an orientation of the at least one spine with regard to the direction of the applied force. In other aspects of the invention, the resilient rods may be incorporated into a golf club that provides for adjustable resistance levels.

An exercise device may comprise at least one joint. The at least one joint may comprise at least one first surface positioned adjacent to at least one second surface, the at least one second surface movable relative to the at least one first surface at at least one interface. A damping grease having a dynamic viscosity greater than about 100 Pascal seconds at standard temperature and pressure may be positioned at the at least one interface between the at least one first surface and the at least one second surface of the at least one joint.

Workstation apparatus and method with converging treadmills

A shared workstation apparatus with converging treadmills including treadmills with centerlines that are transversely oriented towards each other at an angle, which can for example be an acute angle. The shared workstation includes a frame, a first treadmill, a second treadmill, and at least one shared work surface located above the treadmills. The orientation of the treadmills and the shared work surface allows users to share work with each other across the shared work space.

Controlling an exercise machine using a video workout program

Controlling an exercise machine using a video workout program. In one aspect of the disclosure, a method may include capturing a video, encoding exercise machine control commands into a subtitle stream of the video to create the video workout program, decoding the subtitle stream of the video to access the exercise machine control commands, periodically determining at least that an actual heart rate zone of a user is not equal to a current programmed heart rate zone and that the actual heart rate of the user is not trending toward the current programmed heart rate zone by at least a threshold heart rate trend rate, and in response adaptively scaling the video workout program by adjusting a current difficulty level upward or downward depending on if the actual heart rate zone is lower or higher than the current programmed heart rate zone, respectively.

Portable modular training system

Portable modular training systems are described herein. In one aspect, a system includes a system container including a container front, a container rear, a container first side, a container second side, a container bottom, and a container top, an exercise structure including: at least one platform connector including: a mounting plate coupled to the system container; a first member coupled to the mounting plate and extending away from the mounting plate at a downward angle relative to the mounting plate; a second member coupled to the first member and the mounting plate and extending away from the mounting plate at an upward angle relative to the mounting plate; and a support arm coupled to the first member and the second member and extending perpendicularly away from the mounting plate; where the exercise structure is wholly supported by the system container when the exercise structure is securely associated system container.

SAFETY SHUTOFF FOR EXERCISE EQUIPMENT

A pull cord safety system, primarily for use with an exercise device such as, but not limited to, a treadmill, that provides for a captive cord which is fixed to the exercise device via a trip mechanism housing. This provides for the benefits of a pull cord safety shutoff where the treadmill shuts off if sufficient force is applied to pull the cord, but keeps the system from being a separable key system. Thus, it eliminates misplacing the key and provides for a system which can more easily be triggered regardless of the angle of fall or instability.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING CARDIO MACHINE CAPABILITIES BY DYNAMICALLY ADAPTING WORKOUTS TO AN ATHLETE
20220032125 · 2022-02-03 ·

Systems and methods are described for personalizing a fitness or workout plan based on an athletes past performance. In some aspects, performance metrics from at least two workout sessions performed by a user using exercise equipment, may be obtained, where each workout session includes a plurality of intervals corresponding to one of a number of different intensity levels. The performance metrics over a subset of the intervals may be compared with a prescribed performance of the corresponding interval to generate interval comparisons. Using the interval comparisons, at least one of a length or an intensity level of at least one interval of a future workout session may be modified.

Exercise device path traces
09724566 · 2017-08-08 · ·

An apparatus and method concurrently present a plurality of visible tracings or a single continuous visible tracing that overlaps itself, each of the visible tracings being based upon movement taken by a member of an exercise device.

Exercise apparatus

An exercise apparatus includes a frame, two crank units, two reciprocating members, two swing arms, two linkages and two carrying arms. A predetermined portion oriented between the top and bottom ends of each linkage is pivotally coupled to the corresponding crank unit and is moved along a circular path. The top end of each linkage is pivotally coupled to the corresponding reciprocating member and is moved along a curved path between two retracing points. The front end of each carrying arm is pivotally coupled to the bottom end of the corresponding linkage and is moved along a first closed path which is elliptical-like shaped. A predetermined portion oriented between the front and rear ends of each carrying arm is pivotally coupled to the bottom of the corresponding swing arm. The rear end of the carrying arm supports user's foot and is moved along a second closed path.

The present invention is generally directed to methods, systems, and computer program products for coordinating musculoskeletal and cardiovascular hemodynamics, and more directly to stationary and non-stationary exercise equipment that include adjustable behaviors and are used with repetitive activities. The equipment is adjusted automatically in real-time to alter the work output, cadence, and/or timing of the user's physical activity in response to their monitored cardiovascular and musculoskeletal signals to achieve and maintain a targeted coordination of their heart and musculoskeletal pump cycle timing.
