The training device for chewing and swallowing can be used by patients who have difficulty chewing and/or swallowing to assist them to learn how to chew and swallow. The device includes a bolus delivery cylinder and a plunger. The bolus delivery cylinder can include a cylindrical housing having a peripheral wall and a hollow interior. The plunger can be slidably received in the cylindrical housing and secured thereto. In some embodiments the peripheral wall can be perforated. The interior of the housing is configured to accommodate small pieces of food. The bolus delivery cylinder can be made from a transparent, flexible material, such as silicon.

Oral device, assembly and method for the use thereof

A carrying case has first and second clam shell members hingedly connected along one side thereof and defines a interior cavity when in a closed position. At least a portion of an oral device is disposed between the first and second clam shell members with a support member engaging and supporting the oral device such that an intraoral bolus simulator is suspended in the interior cavity free of any engagement with the carrying case. The intraoral bolus simulator may include lubricated patches transformable from a first state, wherein the lubricated patches each comprise water soluble thermoplastic particles suspended in a silicone matrix, to a second state, wherein the water soluble thermoplastic particles are depleted from the silicone matrix. A method of stimulating an oral cavity includes depleting the water soluble thermoplastic particles from the silicone matrix, and presenting a rough surface to the user with the depleted lubricated patches.

The therapeutic device body is personalized for use by a patient through sizing and shaping the therapeutic device based on measurements of the patient and 3D printing at least a portion of the therapeutic device body and at least a portion of the electronic circuitry to make the personalized device both electrically and mechanically functional.

DEVICE FOR FACIAL AND NECK MUSCLES STIMULATION
20210038942 · 2021-02-11 ·

A device configured to exercise facial and neck muscles and related methods are provided. The device operates by applying static and/or dynamic external forces to the muscles of the modiolus area of the face and related ligaments. The device includes a pair of bars that may be connected by rotatory means or by an expandable horizontal connection, each having a proximal and distal end. The proximal end of each bar includes a modiolus holder. The modiolus holders are shaped to partially fit within the user's mouth, and when fit to the modiolus area by the separation of the bars, brings the modiolus holders in tight contact with the modiolus area. This movement secures the insertions of the muscles attached at the modiolus, allowing these muscles to be stretched, therefore creating resistance to their contractions. The area to be exercised is selected by angling of the device, so as to target the upper, lower, or middle section of the face and neck. The device is then move away from the user's mouth, creating a pulling force. The user resists the force exerted by the device, thereby exercising the muscles of the face.
