COMBUSTOR PANELS FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINES
Methods for manufacturing combustor panels of gas turbine engines and combustor panels are described. The methods include defining a particle deposit near-steady state for at least a portion of a combustor panel, the particle deposit near-steady state representative of a build-up of particles on the at least a portion of the combustor panel during use, generating a template based on the defined particle deposit near-steady state, wherein the template includes one or more augmentation elements based on the representative of build-up of particles, and forming a combustor panel based on the template, wherein the formed combustor panel includes one or more augmentation elements defined in the template.
Fuel injectors and method of purging fuel injectors
A method of purging fuel injectors of a gas turbine engine, the fuel injectors fluidly connected to a fuel manifold and having primary and secondary fuel passages fluidly connectable to the fuel manifold, the method includes: selectively fluidly disconnecting one or more of the primary and secondary fuel passages from the fuel manifold; and purging the one or more of the primary and secondary fuel passages by injecting a purging fluid into the one or more of the primary and secondary fuel passages while bypassing the fuel manifold. A fuel injector having two fuel passages, a flow divider valve, and a purging valve is disclosed.
Tapered fuel gallery for a fuel nozzle
A fuel injector is provided for a turbine engine. This fuel injector includes a fuel nozzle, and the fuel nozzle includes a gallery, one or more feed passages and a plurality of exit passages. The gallery extends within the fuel nozzle circumferentially around an axis between a first end of the gallery and a second end of the gallery. A size of the gallery changes as the gallery extends circumferentially around the axis between the first end of the gallery and the second end of the gallery. The one or more feed passages extend within the fuel nozzle to the gallery. The one or more feed passages are configured to supply fuel to the gallery. The exit passages extend within the fuel nozzle from the gallery. The exit passages are configured to receive the fuel from the gallery.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MITIGATING PARTICULATE ACCUMULATION ON A COMPONENT OF A GAS TURBINE
A gas turbine engine component assembly is provided. The gas turbine engine component assembly, comprising: a first component having a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and a cooling hole extending from the second surface to the first surface through the first component; a second component having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface of the first component and the second surface of the second component defining a cooling channel therebetween in fluid communication with the cooling hole for cooling the second surface of the second component; and a particulate capture device attached to at least one of the first component and the second component, the particulate capture device configured to aerodynamically separate the airflow from the particulate.
System and method for high efficiency power generation using a carbon dioxide circulating working fluid
The present invention provides methods and system for power generation using a high efficiency combustor in combination with a CO.sub.2 circulating fluid. The methods and systems advantageously can make use of a low pressure ratio power turbine and an economizer heat exchanger in specific embodiments. Additional low grade heat from an external source can be used to provide part of an amount of heat needed for heating the recycle CO.sub.2 circulating fluid. Fuel derived CO.sub.2 can be captured and delivered at pipeline pressure. Other impurities can be captured.
FUEL NOZZLE WITH RESTRICTED CORE AIR PASSAGE
A fuel nozzle for a combustor of an aircraft engine includes a nozzle body defining an a fuel passage, extending therethrough between a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet located at the outlet end that at least partially defines a nozzle tip, for directing a fuel flow into the combustor via the nozzle tip. A core air passage extends through the nozzle body for directing a core air flow into the combustor via the nozzle tip. At least two flow restrictors are disposed in series within the core air passage, the flow restrictors including an upstream flow restrictor and a downstream flow restrictor each having an orifice therein. The restricted air flow passage having a cross-sectional area smaller than that of the core air passage. The orifice in the upstream flow restrictor being at least partially offset from the orifice in the downstream flow restrictor.
Combustor particulate deflector
A gas turbine engine, including: a diffuser case defining an inner shroud and an outer shroud; and a combustor housed within the diffuser case between the inner shroud and the outer shroud, the combustor including: a shell; a forward dome attached to the shell at a forward end of the combustor; and a deflector attached to the forward dome and extending away from the forward dome.
MULTI-WAY VALVE
A multi-way valve includes an outer casing provided with an internal cavity, at least one input to the cavity, at least one output from the cavity, the at least one input having sealing means, and an actuator adapted to cause the opening of the sealing means of the inputs. A cross-section of the actuator is smaller than a cross-section of the inner cavity.
PILOT LIQUID FUEL LANCE, PILOT LIQUID FUEL SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
A liquid fuel lance for a burner of a combustor of a gas turbine combustor, a liquid fuel system incorporating the liquid fuel lance and a method of operating the liquid fuel system. The liquid fuel lance has an elongate liquid fuel lance body and a liquid fuel tip. The elongate liquid fuel lance body includes a fuel flow passage and at least a first air passage and a second air passage. A liquid fuel tip defines a fuel outlet and arranged about the fuel outlet at least a first outlet and a second outlet to which air is independently supplied by the first air passage and the second air passage respectively, and wherein the amount of air supplied to the first air passage is variable.
