A combustion chamber assembly comprises an annular combustion chamber casing, a combustion chamber, a fuel injector and a tubular seal. The combustion chamber comprises an upstream end wall having an aperture extending there-through. A fuel injector head of the fuel injector is locatable in the aperture in the end wall and the fuel injector head has an axis. The tubular seal is positioned between the fuel injector head and the aperture in the end wall and the tubular seal has a flange and an aperture extends there-through. The tubular seal is movable radially and circumferentially with respect to the axis of the casing. The fuel injector head is locatable in the tubular seal. The aperture in the upstream end wall has a major radial dimension and a minor circumferential dimension relative to the axis of the casing to allow insertion or removal of a lean burn fuel injector head.

Inleakage management apparatus

A leakage management assembly for an orifice configured to limit a flow of at least one of a leakage fluid and a cooling fluid past an instrument positioned within the orifice are provided. The leakage management assembly includes a labyrinth ferrule including an annular ferrule body having a central bore extending therethrough. The labyrinth ferrule further includes an annular assembly cone formed at a first end of the labyrinth ferrule. The annular assembly cone includes an annular convergent lip and is configured to facilitate directing the instrument into the central bore. The labyrinth ferrule also includes a plurality of labyrinthine annular restrictions extending from a radially inner surface of the annular body toward the central bore. A combustor and a gas turbine engine including such a seal assembly are also provided.

CMC component arrangement and method of manufacture

A method of manufacturing a component includes forming an inner wrap about a mandrel. The inner wrap has first and second walls joined by a base portion and an outer wall. A rod is arranged at each of the first and second walls. An outer wrap is formed about the inner wrap and the rods to form a body. Features are formed in the first and second walls.

MODULAR INJECTOR BOLT FOR AN ENGINE

An assembly is provided for an engine. This engine assembly includes an engine structure and a fuel injector. The engine structure includes an injector aperture and a fuel supply passage. The injector aperture extends longitudinally through the engine structure along a centerline. The fuel supply passage extends laterally within the engine structure to the injector aperture. The fuel injector is mated with the injector aperture. The fuel injector includes a nozzle passage and a nozzle orifice. The nozzle passage extends longitudinally along the centerline within the fuel injector to the nozzle orifice. The nozzle passage is fluidly coupled with the fuel supply passage.

Combustor for a gas turbine engine with ceramic matrix composite heat shield and seal retainer

A combustor for a gas turbine engine includes a combustor shell, a heat shield and a burner seal. The combustor shell includes metallic materials and is formed to define an interior combustion space. The heat shield includes ceramic matrix composite materials and is configured to shield a portion of the combustor shell from the interior combustion space. The burner seal includes ceramic matrix composite materials and is configured to extend through apertures formed in the combustor shell and the heat shield.

FLOW CONTROL WALL FOR HEAT ENGINE

A combustor assembly for a heat engine is generally provided. The combustor assembly includes a liner wall defining a combustion chamber, and a deflector assembly. The deflector assembly includes a radially extended first wall disposed adjacent to the combustion chamber, and further an axially extended second wall disposed forward of the first wall and adjacent thereto. The second wall is coupled to the liner wall.

Curved seal with relief cuts for adjacent gas turbine components

A flexible seal is used to seal between two adjacent gas turbine components. The flexible seal includes at least one metal ply having a forward end, an aft end axially separated from the forward end, and an intermediate portion between the forward end and the aft end. The intermediate portion defines a continuous curve in the circumferential direction, such that the aft end is circumferentially, and optionally radially, offset from the forward end. A plurality of relief cuts is defined through the at least one metal ply between the forward end and the aft end to increase flexibility and improve sealing in seal slots that are radially offset from one another.
