A fire pit is disclosed that includes a burn chamber, a removable fire grate, and a removable ash pan. The burn chamber is defined by an inwardly facing surface and a bottom. The removable fire grate is positioned within the burn chamber and supports combustible fuel for burning. The removable fire includes a plurality of holes sized to permit passage of ash from the combustible fuel, and at least one grip feature sized and shaped to permit a user to remove the removable fire grate from the fire pit by lifting the removable fire grate vertically through the burn chamber. The removable ash pan is positioned within the burn chamber beneath the removable fire grate, and includes, a side wall, a bottom, and at least one grippable surface configured to permit the user to remove the removable ash pan from the fire pit by lifting the removable ash pan vertically through the burn chamber.

Non-gas fire pit

A fire pit includes an engine having at least one wall defining an inner chamber. At least one primary air aperture is defined through the inner chamber wall at a first, lower level, and at least one secondary air aperture is defined through the inner chamber wall at a second, upper level. A fuel grate is supported within the inner chamber at a level between the lower level and the upper level.

A cooking grill with a cooking chamber, pellet fuel combustion unit, and ash cleanout system for releasing retained ash from the combustion unit through an access door without requiring the disassembly of the upper components of the grill. The combustion unit has a first end with a first end opening, and a second end with a second end opening. The ash cleanout system includes an access door adjacent to the second end, operable by a user from a position external to the cooking chamber through a pull link, and capable of a first position wherein the second end opening is closed to generally retain ash within the pellet fuel combustion unit, and a second position wherein the second end opening is open to release the retained ash to a separate removal location.

The firepot is structurally configured to hold at least partially ignited solid fuel. The firepot also comprises a floor defining, at least in part, a lower end of the firepot. Additionally, a portion of the one or more walls form a solid fuel delivery opening that comprises a solid fuel portal through which solid fuel is deliverable to an interior of the firepot. A heating element mount is positioned to hold a heating element within the interior of the firepot.

A duel-fuel fireplace apparatus is described. In one example, an apparatus includes an enclosure having a door disposed thereon and a wood-burning compartment disposed within the enclosure. The wood-burning compartment has an insulated housing configured to support temperatures associated with burning of wood within the wood-burning compartment. A gas-burning compartment is also disposed within the enclosure and has a gas burner disposed therein. A mechanism including a motor is configured to cause movement between a first mode in which the wood-burning compartment is viewable through the door and a second mode in which the gas-burning compartment is viewable through the door.
