The modular barbecue system comprises a heating compartment having a bottom wall and a peripheral defining a cavity, a heat source provided in the cavity of the heating compartment, a plurality of add-on components receivable in the cavity of the heating compartment, a plurality of steps provided in the cavity of the heating compartment for supporting the add-on components at different distances relative to the heat source. Add-on components such as a large basin, a flat basin, a perforated plate system, a strainer, a lid and a pump are combined to form a plurality of kits enabling steam cooking, maple sap boiling, double boiling, coal fire cooking, boiling, smoke cooking and water heating to expand the typical grilling method of a gas barbecue to various cooking techniques.

It is contemplated that the present invention can provide a collapsible and portable outdoor oven having a front wall having at least one opening, a rear wall, a top wall, a first side wall, a second side wall, at least one horizontally extending exhaust slot, at least one upwardly and outwardly extending baffle, at least one internal cavity having a rear inner wall, a first inner side wall, a rear inner side wall, an upper inner surface, a lower inner surface and an upwardly and forwardly projecting baffle positioned rearwardly on the lower surface, at least one of the first side wall, the second side wall, rear wall, upper surface and the lower surface comprised of a plurality of refractory brick elements and at least one door element adapted to cover the at least one opening of the front wall.

A grilling device includes an oven section having an outer wall with opposing side portions and an encircling body portion extending therebetween. The body portion has an access opening and the grilling device includes a lid that selectively covers the access opening by means of a handle attached thereto. The grilling device also includes opposing hinge elements connected to opposite sides of the lid and to the side portions of the outer wall, as opposed to the encircling body portion. In particular, the hinge elements are connected to respective rear areas of the side portions. Accordingly, the path of opening the lid has a different shape or curvature and thereby positions the handle substantially lower than if the hinge elements were connected to the body portion adjacent to the access opening. The opposing side portions have a substantially oval shape and the hinge elements have an elongated configuration.
