Devices, systems, and methods for maintaining convection heat within a heating region of a griddle and channeling the convection heat therefrom. The griddle includes a ribbing structure along its underside surface in a configuration that cooperates with the burners of a cooking station. Such ribbing structure allows a user to control the convective heating of the griddle as desired and channels the convective heat to a single side of the griddle, away from the user.

A cooktop configured to be mounted in a domestic appliance is provided. The cooktop has a top surface; a plurality of heating units located on the top surface; a receiving area in the top surface; and a receptacle removably positioned in the receiving area of the cooktop, the receptacle having an opening at an upper end of the receptacle. The receptacle is configured to receive through the opening material collected from the top surface of the cooktop for subsequent removal from the domestic appliance by removal of the receptacle from the top surface of the cooktop.

A gap cover for a stovetop including a pair of rectangular plates including a right plate and a left plate. A width of each of the right plate and the left plate substantially conforms to a width of a gap between a stovetop and a countertop. Each of the right plate and the left plate has a pair of keyhole-shaped mounting holes including a top mounting hole and a bottom mounting hole. Each of the top mounting hole and the bottom mounting hole has a substantially semicircular upper portion and a substantially semicircular lower portion. Each of a right pair of screws and a left pair of screws is affixed to the stovetop. The pair of mounting holes of each of the right plate and the left plate is removably engageable with the right pair of screws and the left pair of screws, respectively.

A gap cover for a stovetop including a pair of rectangular plates including a right plate and a left plate. A width of each of the right plate and the left plate substantially conforms to a width of a gap between a stovetop and a countertop. Each of the right plate and the left plate has a pair of keyhole-shaped mounting holes including a top mounting hole and a bottom mounting hole. Each of the top mounting hole and the bottom mounting hole has a substantially semicircular upper portion and a substantially semicircular lower portion. Each of a right pair of screws and a left pair of screws is affixed to the stovetop. A cooktop protection system includes a front section guard disposed at a top surface of a cooktop forward from a burner section, the front section guard having a plurality of portions, a rear section guard disposed at a rear portion of the cooktop behind the burner section, the rear section having a top portion and a forward-facing surface, and at least one side section guard disposed along at least one lateral side of the cooktop surface, each of the at least one side section guards comprises a top section and a vertical section extending from an underside of the top section. The vertical section is disposed in a space between the at least one lateral side of the cooktop surface and a vertical edge of an adjacent countertop surface.

A cooktop protection system includes a front section guard disposed at a top surface of a cooktop forward from a burner section, the front section guard having a plurality of portions, a rear section guard disposed at a rear portion of the cooktop behind the burner section, the rear section having a top portion and a forward-facing surface, and at least one side section guard disposed along at least one lateral side of the cooktop surface, each of the at least one side section guards comprises a top section and a vertical section extending from an underside of the top section. The vertical section is disposed in a space between the at least one lateral side of the cooktop surface and a vertical edge of an adjacent countertop surface.

A control panel assembly for an appliance with features for securing a backing plate to a control panel frame to maintain a high quality fit, feel, and finish of the control panel assembly is provided. In particular, the backing plate includes a plurality of securing tabs for securing the backing plate against the control panel frame. The backing plate also may include a plurality of spring tabs for securing the backing plate against the control panel frame.

A drop-in cooking device for installation into an opening in a fixture, including a housing configured to be mounted in the opening in the fixture, a heating element positioned in the housing, and a cover attachable to the housing adjacent the heating element, the cover comprising a thermally insulating material and having a collapsible portion, wherein the collapsible portion of the cover has a working configuration in which the cover has a first height and a storage configuration in which the cover has a second height, the second height being less than the first height.

A drop-in cooking device for installation into an opening in a fixture, including a housing configured to be mounted in the opening in the fixture, a heating element positioned in the housing, and a cover attachable to the housing adjacent the heating element, the cover comprising a thermally insulating material and having a collapsible portion, wherein the collapsible portion of the cover has a working configuration in which the cover has a first height and a storage configuration in which the cover has a second height, the second height being less than the first height.

The present invention discloses a novel range cover for protection of a user's range surface. The range cover is comprised by the non-obvious combination of independent surface covers and basin covers with optional features such as a backsplash, a surface ridge for liquid retention, range-to-counter-top gap covers, sealing joints for multiple section construction, folding pleats for fit adjustment, range edge protectors, magnetic adherence, adhesive adherence, suction-cup adherence, and visually enhancing graphic designs. The material of construction can be any suitable single material or combination of materials that is heat and flame resistant, and that is preferentially also stain and stick resistant. The benefits of this invention include ease of application, protection to the user's range surface and basin surfaces, increased mess control while using the range, ease of removal and cleaning of the product, increased range durability, and enhanced aesthetic appearance of the user's range and counter-top.
