Isolated evaporator coil for a transport climate control system
Technologies described herein are directed to isolating or insulating at least portions of an evaporator coil within a climate control unit (CCU) of a TCCS so as to reduce or even eliminate adverse effects caused by a leaked working fluid. Such adverse effects may include a threat of ignition, asphyxiation of occupants, damage to cargo, and other harmful effects caused by emission of a noxious gas. A leak isolation structure is provided to isolate evaporator tubes of an evaporator coil from at least one of a plurality of turns of the evaporator coil.
Flow distributor for heat transfer plate
A flow distributor for a heat transfer device having a plurality of channels includes a sheath defining a plurality of distributor holes, each distributor hole configured to be in fluid communication with a respective channel inlet of each channel of the heat transfer device and an insert defining a plurality of fluid channels therein and a fluid inlet, each fluid channel in fluid communication with the fluid inlet. The insert is disposed within the sheath to seal the fluid channels with each fluid channel in fluid communication with a respective one of the distribution holes. The fluid inlet includes an inner inlet and an outer inlet radially outward from the inner inlet for mixing a fluid flow in the fluid inlet for evenly distributing fluid flow (e.g., a two phase flow) into the fluid channels of the insert and into each channel of the heat transfer device.
Air-conditioning apparatus and method of using air-conditioning apparatus
A header includes a plurality of branch tubes and a header manifold. If refrigerant flowing into the header manifold forms a pattern of annular flow or churn flow, tips of the branch tubes inserted into the header manifold pass through a liquid-phase portion having a thickness δ [m] and reach a gas-phase portion. The thickness δ [m] of the liquid-phase portion is defined as δ=G×(1−x)×D/(4ρ.sub.L×U.sub.LS), where G is a flow speed [kg/(m.sup.2 s)] of the refrigerant, x is a quality of the refrigerant, D is an inside diameter [m] of the header manifold, ρ.sub.L is a liquid density [kg/m.sup.3] of the refrigerant, U.sub.LS is a reference apparent liquid speed [m/s] that is a maximum value within a range of variation in an apparent gas speed of the refrigerant flowing into a flow space of the header manifold. The reference apparent liquid speed U.sub.LS [m/s] is defined as G(1−x)/ρ.sub.L.

Two-phase cooling system
A two-phase cooling system of an electric work vehicle includes a compressor, a condenser, a thermal expansion valve, a heat exchanger, and an evaporator. The compressor compresses a refrigerant to increase the refrigerant pressure. The condenser is downstream of the compressor and discharges heat from the refrigerant flowing from the compressor to condense at least a portion of the refrigerant. The thermal expansion valve is downstream of the condenser and decreases the pressure of the refrigerant to vaporize the refrigerant to decrease the temperature of the refrigerant. The heat exchanger is coupled to an electrical component and is used to transfer heat from the electrical component to the refrigerant from the electrical component. The refrigerant then flows through the evaporator, where it absorbs more heat. The refrigerant passes back through the thermal expansion valve on its return to the compressor.
Two-phase cooling system
A two-phase cooling system of an electric work vehicle includes a compressor, a condenser, a thermal expansion valve, a heat exchanger, and an evaporator. The compressor compresses a refrigerant to increase the refrigerant pressure. The condenser is downstream of the compressor and discharges heat from the refrigerant flowing from the compressor to condense at least a portion of the refrigerant. The thermal expansion valve is downstream of the condenser and decreases the pressure of the refrigerant to vaporize the refrigerant to decrease the temperature of the refrigerant. The heat exchanger is coupled to an electrical component and is used to transfer heat from the electrical component to the refrigerant from the electrical component. The refrigerant then flows through the evaporator, where it absorbs more heat. The refrigerant passes back through the thermal expansion valve on its return to the compressor.

Disclosed is a multiport distributor comprising: an elongated member comprising a plurality of inlet ports disposed along a first end of the elongated member, a plurality of first outlet ports disposed along a face of the elongated member, and a plurality of fluid passages disposed within the elongated member and extending between the plurality of inlet ports and the plurality of first outlet ports, wherein the plurality of fluid passages are substantially parallel to one another and configured to convey a fluid in a first direction, wherein the plurality of first outlet ports are configured to direct a fluid passing therethrough in a second direction, wherein the second direction is substantially perpendicular to the first direction.
Refrigeration System with Separate Feedstreams to Multiple Evaporator Zones
A refrigeration system has: (a) a fluid tight circulation loop including a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator, the evaporator having at least three evaporator zones, each evaporator zone having an inlet port, the circulation loop being further configured to measure the condition of the refrigerant with a refrigerant condition sensor disposed within the evaporator upstream of the evaporator outlet port; and control the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator based upon the measured condition of the refrigerant within the evaporator, and (b) a controller for controlling the flow rate of refrigerant to the evaporator based upon the measured condition of the refrigerant within the evaporator upstream of the evaporator outlet port.
COOLING SYSTEM AND METHOD HAVING MICRO-CHANNEL COIL WITH COUNTERCURRENT CIRCUIT
A cooling unit includes a heat exchanger coil positioned coupled to a source of fluid. The heat exchanger includes at least one coil configured to face air being drawn through the heat exchanger. The at least one coil has a first pipe, a second pipe spaced from the first pipe, and a plurality of micro-channels disposed between and in fluid communication with the first pipe and the second pipe. Each of the first pipe, the second pipe and the plurality of micro-channels is configured to enable a countercurrent configuration between inner and outer fluids. Other embodiments of the cooling unit and methods of cooling are further disclosed.
Method and a system for preventing a freeze event using refrigerant temperature
A method includes measuring a saturated suction temperature, receiving actual temperature value reflective of the measured saturated suction temperature, and determining whether the actual temperature value is less than a first pre-determined minimum threshold temperature value. If the actual temperature value is less than the first pre-determined minimum threshold temperature value, initiating a timer to operate for a pre-determined time interval. Determining whether the actual temperature value is less than a second pre-determined minimum threshold temperature value and if the actual temperature value is less the second pre-determined minimum threshold temperature value, initiating the timer to operate for a modified time interval. If the timer has expired, the operation of the compressor is modified.
