An induration machine includes a travelling grate for transporting bulk material along a transport direction from a heating zone for heating and/or drying the material to a cooling zone for cooling the material by cooling gas. The machine includes a hood disposed over the travelling grate having a first hood section in the heating zone and a second hood section in the cooling zone; and two recuperation ducts for guiding used cooling gas from the second hood section to the first hood section.

The recuperation ducts are disposed on opposite sides of the hood, are laterally offset with respect to the hood, and are connected to the second hood section by a V-shaped gas collector duct. Each recuperation duct is connected to the first hood section by at least one gas supply duct and has at least one dust purge opening disposed in the lowermost part of the recuperation duct for purging dust from the recuperation duct.

A method and an apparatus method for producing direct reduced iron (DRI) from iron ore using biomass as a source of reductant and as a heating source of the iron ore and electromagnetic energy as a further heating source in a furnace having multiple zones. The zones include a preheat zone and a reduction zone between an inlet for briquettes of iron ore and biomass and an outlet for direct reduced iron. The method includes counter-current movement of (a) briquettes of iron ore and biomass in a direction from the inlet to the outlet and (b) combustible gases in an opposite direction in the furnace.

Solidifying device

The substrate has a heat receiving surface facing the heating member. The temperature control air-floating member is in the working space and below the heating member. The conveyor is for transporting the substrate into the working space and between the temperature control air-floating member and the heating member. The heating member is for providing heat to the substrate. The temperature control air-floating member is for supplying air towards the substrate to allow the substrate to float in the working space and form a high-temperature and two low-temperature areas.

Solidifying device

A solidifying device is for solidifying a substrate which includes a middle and two side portions. The thermostability of the middle portion is greater than that of the side portions. The solidifying device includes a housing, a heating member, a temperature control air-floating member and a conveyor. The housing defines a working space. The heating member is in the working space. The substrate has a heat receiving surface facing the heating member. The temperature control air-floating member is in the working space and below the heating member. The conveyor is for transporting the substrate into the working space and between the temperature control air-floating member and the heating member. The heating member is for providing heat to the substrate. The temperature control air-floating member is for supplying air towards the substrate to allow the substrate to float in the working space and form a high-temperature and two low-temperature areas.
