Projectile Launching System
The invention relates to an archery system that launches an arrow from a position that is perpendicular to a direction of flight for the arrow. After release, the arrow rotates to a position that is parallel to the direction of flight to the target.

The cams rotatably arranged on a first holder and on a second holder, respectively. The holders fixed on said frame on opposite sides from the movement trajectory. In addition, the crossbow is provided with a bowstring connecting the first cam and the second cam, a first cable connecting the first cam and the loose end of the first limb, and a second cable connecting the second cam and the loose end of the second limb.
Bow
A bow includes: a bow body; a first string cam provided on one end of the bow body to be rotatable, one end of a string being fixed to the first string cam; a first small diameter cam rotated with the first string cam, one end of a cable being wound on the first small diameter cam; a first large diameter cam rotated with the first string cam, one end of a cable being wound on the first large diameter cam; a second string cam provided on the other end of the bow body to be rotatable, the other end of the string being fixed to the second string cam; a second small diameter cam rotated with the second string cam, the other end of the cable being wound on the second small diameter cam; and a second large diameter cam rotated with the second string cam, the other end of the cable being wound on the second large diameter cam.
BOW
A bow includes a handle and upper and lower limbs. The upper and lower limbs are formed of a laminated fiber-reinforced plastic material. The upper limb has first and second sets of fiber sheets stacked in a direction along a lateral axis. The first set of fiber sheets have fibers aligned at a first angle from a longitudinal axis, and the second set of fiber sheets having fibers aligned at a second angle from the longitudinal axis in an opposite direction. The lower limb has third and fourth sets of fiber sheets stacked in a direction along the lateral axis. The third set of fiber sheets have parallel fibers aligned at a third angle from the longitudinal axis, and the fourth set of fiber sheets having fibers aligned at a fourth angle from the longitudinal axis in an opposite direction. The angles are between 16 and 44 degrees.
ULTRA-COMPACT CROSSBOW
A crossbow that includes a frame along which a movement trajectory of an arrow substantially passes, a first limb and a second limb connected to the frame on opposite sides from the movement trajectory. Each of said limbs having a loose end. The crossbow further includes a first cam having a first rotation axle and a second cam having a second rotation axle.
NON-PLANAR RISER PLATES
Embodiments include a riser assembly for a bow. The riser assembly can include a first non-planar riser plate; and a second non-planar riser plate that is coupled to the first non-planar riser plate with one or more connectors. The first non-planar riser plate and the second non-planar riser plate define a gap there between. A width of the gap extending from the first non-planar riser plate to the second non-planar riser plate. The width of the gap varies in size such that the width of the gap at a central location of the gap is larger or smaller than the width of the gap at a location distal to the central location. Other embodiments are also included herein.
PROJECTILE LAUNCHER WITH INWARD ROTATING ARMS
A projectile launcher with a stationary element extending outwardly from a body and a pivotal element attached so as to extend forward, the pivotal element having a cocked position directed toward the body and a released position directed in the forward direction and a second stationary element and pivotal element similarly mounted but extending outwardly from the body in an opposite direction. A bowstring extending between the two pivotal elements and movable between a cocked and a released position. A latch movable between a closed position, retaining the bowstring in the cocked position, and an open position, releasing the bowstring. A tubular torsion bar coupled to the pivotal elements and movable between energy storage and releasing configurations. A delivery system coupling the torsion bar to the pivotal elements and transferring energy to and from the torsion bar when the bowstring is moved between the cocked and released positions.
CROSSBOW
A crossbow is configured to shoot a projectile. The crossbow includes a frame having a stock positioned at a rear end, the frame defining a horizontal projectile plane at a top side in which a projectile axis is positioned. The projectile moves within the horizontal projectile plane and along the projectile axis during firing and arming of the crossbow, and the projectile is fired from a front end of the frame. The crossbow further includes a drawstring hub connectable to ends of a drawstring. Rotation of the drawstring hub in at least one direction is powered, such as by a force applied by flexed limbs. The crossbow further includes drawstring guides attached to the frame for guiding the drawstring across the projectile axis between the ends of the drawstring. The first and second drawstring guides each include a pulley wheel, wherein the drawstring is guided at least partially around each pulley wheel. A further aspect is a crossbow having a frame comprised of a first frame portion and a second frame portion that are detachably coupled to one another via a fastening mechanism.
Elastic energy storage and deployment system
An elastic energy storage and deployment system deploys a torsional spring that bias a cam connected to a cable. The cam is coupled to the torsion spring about a shared rotational axis such that the cam directs elastic energy to and from the torsion spring and the cable transforms rotational force into linear motion, with little rotational inertia, and the addition of angular acceleration.
