Systems and Methods for Covertly Creating Adverse Health Effects in Subjects
A method for covertly creating adverse health effects in a human subject includes generating at least one electromagnetic wave at a frequency within the range of about 300 MHz (megahertz) and about 300 GHz (gigahertz). The at least one electromagnetic energy wave is pulsed at a pulse frequency within a target range of human neural oscillations. The at least one pulsed electromagnetic wave is remotely transmitted to the subject's brain.
Aerial Vehicle Interception System
The subject disclosure relates an aerial defense system to defend against a detected threat. The aerial defense system may comprise a plurality of defensive aircraft, an aircraft storage system to house the plurality of defensive aircraft, an aircraft controller in communication with each of a targeting system and the plurality of defensive aircraft, and a human machine interface (HMI) device to provide operator interaction. In operation, one or more of the plurality of defensive aircraft may engage the detected threat. At least one of the plurality of defensive aircraft may include a target neutralization device to strike, or otherwise engage, the detected threat.
RECUPERATED SUPERHEAT RETURN TRANS-CRITICAL VAPOR COMPRESSION SYSTEM
Methods and systems for recuperated superheat return are provided. A coolant is supplied in a vapor state to a compressor. The coolant compressed by the compressor is cooled with a gas cooler. The coolant cooled by the gas cooler is supplied to an inlet of a high pressure side of a recuperator. The coolant from an outlet of the high pressure side of the recuperator is supplied to a portion of a coolant circuit. The coolant is supplied back from the portion of the coolant circuit to an inlet of a low pressure side of the recuperator. The coolant in the low pressure side of the recuperator is heated with thermal energy transferred by the recuperator from the coolant in the high pressure side of the recuperator. The coolant in the vapor state from an outlet of the low pressure side of the recuperator is supplied to the compressor.
METHOD FOR FAST THERMALIZATION AND THERMAL MANAGEMENT OPERATION OPTIMIZATION
Systems and methods are provided for decreasing thermalization time and/or increasing coefficients of performance by adding waste heat. A thermal management system may include a coolant loop and be configured to cool a target component via the coolant loop, the thermal management system may be further configured to heat the target component during a thermalization period with a waste heat source via the same coolant loop with which the thermal management system is configured to cool the target component.
RAPIDLY AVAILABLE ELECTRIC POWER FROM A TURBINE-GENERATOR SYSTEM HAVING AN AUXILIARY POWER SOURCE
Turbine-generator systems having an auxiliary power source and methods of operating turbine-generator systems having auxiliary power sources in a high, intermittent load environment are provided. The turbine may be sized to meet substantially all the power required by the intermittent load. The auxiliary power source may have a power rating approximately equal to the power required to rotate the unloaded generator at an operational speed. The method may include decoupling the turbine from the generator, removing the load from the generator, coupling the auxiliary power source to the unloaded generator, and maintaining the operational rotational speed of the generator with the auxiliary power source.
Laser weapon system
A laser weapon system is described. Particularly, embodiments describe subsystems of a laser weapon system including those necessary for laser generation, operational control, optical emission, and heat dissipation configured to provide a lightweight unit of reduced dimensions.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ALIGNMENT OF BEAMS OF COHERENT BEAM ARRAY
A CBC system includes an array of beam sources generating coherent beams directed towards a target. The beam sources have associated adjustable phase modulators and beam steering arrangements. For each of the beams in a subset of the beams, the corresponding beam steering arrangement is actuated to steer the beam, and the corresponding phase modulator is actuated to modulate a current phase of the beam between at least three phase states. A detector monitors an intensity parameter that varies as a function of an intensity of radiation impinging on the target. A controller calculates, for each of the beams in the subset, a current value that is representative of a relative intensity of the beam based at least in part on the monitored intensity parameter at each of the at least three phase states. The calculated value is indicative of a current position of the beam relative to the target.
