AMMUNITION CASE TRIMMER

An ammunition case trimmer, components thereof, and associated methods. The ammunition case trimmer includes a shroud and a cutter. The cutter is supported in the shroud by at least one rotational bearing. The shroud defines a case guide for receiving the case and guiding the case into engagement with a cutting head of the cutter. The shroud is rotatable with respect to the cutter about the axis of rotation. A proximal free end of the cutter is arranged with respect to the shroud to permit reception of the proximal free end in a chuck of a drill.

IMPROVED PRESSED HEAD

The invention relates to a method of improved ammunition production, more specifically to an improved pressed metal head component suitable for a polymer tube cartridge The invention relates to a method of drawing and forming a metal head unit for use with a polymer case to form a polymer cartridge for use in a rifled barrel, comprising the steps of i) providing a metal cup drawing it through one or more dies to provide a case tube, wherein the case tube has a closed head end with a first outer diameter and an elongate open end, ii) trimming the elongate open end to form a metal coupling protrusion, said metal coupling protrusion with a second outer diameter, wherein the first diameter and second diameter are the same, iii) forming, a primer cavity into the closed head end, iv) forming internal and external features in the closed head end, v) forming by a heading process, an enlarged head rim on the closed head end, such that said enlarged head rim has a third diameter which is larger than the second diameter of the open end.

Cartridge and chamber gauges

A gauge with two probes measures a rifle chamber to determine the distance from the center of the shoulder to the start of the bore. A gauge with two holes measures a loaded cartridge to determine the distance from the center of the shoulder to the place on the bullet where the cross sectional diameter is the same as the bore of the rifle. The difference between these two measurements is bullet jump: the distance the bullet will move, upon firing, before it engages the rifling of the barrel. These same tools, properly sized, also provide a unique and convenient means for determining the cone angle of any conical surface.

A non-destructive device that measures the accuracy potential and relative ballistic coefficient of projectiles, by placing the object tested within a swirling vortex having both a rotational and vertical vector, hovering the projectile essentially above the device, and essentially unencumbered by any stator. A perfectly balanced object hovers and turns at a high rate about its long/vertical axis without contact with the device.

A method and apparatus for truing a cartridge case with an apparatus including a frame defining a chamber and having a central axis, and a cartridge sleeve defining a cartridge passage with a passage surface for engaging the exterior surface of the body of the case, and a tool extending along the central axis of the frame with a tip end extending into the chamber. The frame may include a tool mandrel portion configured to mount the tool on the frame, and a sleeve mandrel portion configured to mount the cartridge sleeve on the frame. The sleeve mandrel portion may permit the cartridge sleeve and a cartridge case mounted thereon to translate with respect to the frame along the central axis of the frame, the sleeve mandrel portion permitting the cartridge sleeve and a cartridge case mounted thereon to rotate about the central axis with respect to the frame.
