Rotor with sealing element and ring seal

A sealing element and a rotor of a gas turbine having at least one rotor disc and having an annular rotor component arranged adjacently to the rotor disc and having a plurality of sealing elements arranged distributed around the circumference. The sealing elements are fastened to the rotor disc at least in the axial direction. An inner edge portion of each of the sealing elements is adjacent to a sealing portion of the rotor component. In order to provide a seal between the sealing element and rotor component whilst at the same time enabling a relative axial displacement, a ring seal is arranged in a receiving space formed by the sealing element and rotor component.

Rotor with centrifugally optimized contact faces

A rotor for a gas turbine having a rotor disk on which there are a plurality of rotor components distributed around the circumference. The rotor disk has a circumferential securing shoulder with a contact face. Retaining faces come to bear against the contact face, each of the retaining faces have a retaining shoulder of the respective rotor component and are designed with a form that complements the contact face. In order to optimize the bearing stresses between the retaining shoulder and the securing shoulder, the retaining face has a smaller radius than the contact face, namely the retaining radius is at least 0.99 times and at most 0.995 times the contact radius. Also provided is an axially extending aperture in the rotor component, the width of which in the circumferential direction is 25% to 75% of the rotor component width in the circumferential direction.

a tooling assembly for installation relative to a first and second turbomachine component is provided. The tooling assembly includes an axial mounting portion removably couplable to the first turbomachine component. The axial mounting portion includes a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate, and at least one turnbuckle assembly that extends between, and is coupled to, the first plate and the second plate. At least one of the first plate and the second plate include a radial compression portion. The radial compression portion includes a compression bar radially movable relative to the axial mounting portion and configured to contact the second turbomachine component.

Platform seal

A gas turbine engine includes a plurality of airfoil vanes situated in a circumferential row about an engine central axis. Each of the plurality of airfoil vanes include a first platform, and a second platform, and an airfoil section therebetween. A face of the first platform includes a trailing edge recess and a leading edge recess. The trailing edge recess and leading edge recesses of adjacent ones of the first platforms together define a slot. A sealing element situated in each slot. The sealing element has a geometry that tracks the geometry of the slot such that the seal is trapped in the slot by a form-fit relationship in circumferential and axial dimensions by a form-fit relationship between the sealing element and the slot. A method of sealing a plurality of airfoil vanes is also disclosed.

Damper stacks for turbomachine rotor blades

Damper stacks, rotor blades, and turbomachines are provided. A rotor blade includes a main body including a shank and an airfoil extending radially outwardly from the shank. The rotor blade further includes a damping passage defined in the main body, the damping passage extending radially through the main body. The rotor blade further includes a damper stack disposed within the damping passage, the damper stack including a plurality of damper pins, each of the plurality of damper pins in contact with a neighboring damper pin.

A rotor for a gas turbine engine has: a first rotor disk; an interstage flange that extends from the first rotor disk to a flange end portion that has an axial end surface and first radial outer and inner surfaces; a circumferential groove, formed in the flange end portion and extending from the axial end surface toward the first rotor disk; radial outer and inner slots formed in the first radial outer and inner surfaces along the circumferential groove and extend through the first radial outer and inner surfaces; and a valve member disposed within the circumferential groove and is secured within the circumferential groove when the flange end portion is connected to a second rotor disk, wherein the valve member deflects from rotor rotational speeds to seal or unseal the radial outer slot.

A platform seal and damper assembly for turbomachinery (100), such as fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) expanders or gas turbine engines; and methodologies for forming such assembly are provided. An axially-extending groove (160) is arranged on a side (162) of a respective platform. Groove (160) is defined by a radially-outward surface (168) at an underside of the platform and a surface (170) extending with a tangential component (T) toward radially-outward surface (168). A seal and damper member (152) is disposed in groove (160), where the body of seal and damper member has adjoining surfaces (190, 188) configured to respectively engage, in response to a camming action, with the surfaces (168, 170) that define the axially-extending groove. The camming action being effective to produce an interference fit of the seal and damper member (152) with the side of the respective platform (162) and an opposed side (163) of an adjacent platform.

A rotor disc for a turbomachine, the disc extending circumferentially about an axis and including a plurality of cavities configured to receive blade roots, each cavity including a downstream radial wall configured to axially block the blade root in the cavity, each downstream radial wall including a channel of ventilation of the cavity, including an inlet orifice which opens into the cavity and an outlet orifice which opens onto a downstream surface of the disc. Damped turbine blade assembly

A damped turbine blade assembly for a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The damped turbine blade assembly includes a damper positioned within a first small slot of a first turbine blade and a second large slot of the second turbine blade. A portion of the damper can slidably mate with the second large slot providing a radial and angular connection between the first turbine blade and second turbine blade while allowing movement in a direction tangent to a radial of a center axis of the gas turbine engine. The tangential movement is resisted by friction between the damper contacting the second large slot and provides friction damping against vibrations felt by the turbine blades during operation of the gas turbine engine. The damper can be shaped and/or pre-stressed to control the normal force component of the friction between the damper and the second large slot.

A double ring axial seal for a disk and blade; the disk including an array of blade slots at a perimeter of the disk configured to receive a root portion of the blade, the blade includes a platform located between the root portion and an airfoil extending from the platform opposite the root portion, the platform including a receiver with an overhang proximate the root portion and the platform including a hook opposite the receiver proximate the root portion; a disk slot formed on a first side of the disk proximate the array of blade slots; a first axial seal ring coupled with the disk slot and the receiver; the first axial seal ring having a cutout proximate an outer perimeter of the first axial seal ring, the cutout sized to receive the overhang of the blade platform.
