The detent device includes a first receiving groove assigned to the first axial position and a second receiving groove assigned to the second axial position. The detent device further includes a preload element disposed on the cam sleeve. The preload element preloads a detent element arranged between the carrier shaft and the cam sleeve towards the carrier shaft. The detent element is received in the first receiving groove in the first axial position and the second receiving groove in the second axial position.
SHIFT GATE, SLIDING CAM SYSTEM AND CAMSHAFT
A shift gate for a sliding cam system may include at least two shift grooves for engagement of at least one actuator pin. The two shift grooves run against a direction of rotation and transform from a first inlet portion for the actuator pin into a second outlet portion for the actuator pin. The two shift grooves cross one another in an intersection region between the two portions. In the intersection region, the two shift grooves each have a maximum axial shift stroke that is greater than half a total axial shift stroke, in particular a slide travel, of the shift gate.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR ROCKER ARM POSITION SENSING
A system for monitoring operation of an internal combustion engine having a rocker arm assembly for actuating an engine valve is disclosed. The rocker arm assembly includes a first arm with a first end and a second end, at least one slider pad connected to the first arm near the second end of the first arm, a second arm also having a first end pivotally connected near the first end of the first arm along a pivot axle, a latch that when latched secures the first arm relative to the second arm in a latched mode, and when unlatched allows the first arm to move relative to the second arm in an unlatched mode. The system also employs a sensor attached to one of the arms that can detect when the arms are moving relative to each other, and adapted to provide a signal indicating the detected movement.
Sliding element with partially hardened latching elevation
A slide element for displacement of a cam segment in an axial direction along a camshaft may include a slide sleeve, which has a longitudinal toothing formed at least sectionally along an inner wall of the slide sleeve and has a latching section formed on the inner wall and serving for interaction with a latching means. The latching section comprises a latching means receiving part, which comprises at least two latching grooves formed adjacently in an axial direction and at least one latching elevation formed between the latching grooves of the latching means receiving part and directed inward. The latching elevation may be partially hardened exclusively in a latching means transfer region.
Combustion engine
A four-stroke internal combustion engine comprising an inlet cam configured to open and close an inlet valve, a No. 1 exhaust cam configured to open and close an exhaust valve, a No. 2 exhaust cam configured to open and close the same exhaust valve, wherein the No. 2 exhaust cam is angularly adjustable relative to the No. 1 exhaust cam in response to input from an operator, so that the No. 2 exhaust cam is able to be selectively engaged; wherein the No. 1 exhaust cam is configured to open and close the exhaust valve during the compression stroke, so that a selected quantity of air drawn in during the intake stroke is expelled during the compression stroke; and wherein the No. 2 exhaust cam is configured to optionally close the exhaust valve when engaged.
SWITCHING ROLLER FINGER FOLLOWER WITH INNER ARM HAVING ASYMMETRIC INNER ROLLER
A switching roller finger follower (SRFF) assembly for valve actuation comprises an outer arm, an inner arm, an inner roller, a bearing axle and a pair of outer rollers. The outer arm is pivotally coupled to a pivot axle. The inner arm is at least partially disposed within the outer arm and pivotally coupled to the pivot axle. The inner roller assembly comprise a bushing and an outer ring. The bushing defines a curved slot therein. The bushing is fixed to the inner arm. The outer ring is configured to rotate around the bushing. The bearing axle extends through the curved slot. The pair of outer rollers are disposed on each end of the bearing axle.
Electromagnetic actuator
An electromagnetic actuator having at least one electromagnetic actuator unit, the actuator unit comprising a coil and a plunger, which plunger is axially movable relative to the coil via energization of the coil, and the actuator unit being arranged in a housing. In order to achieve a particularly simple design, the plunger is arranged approximately coaxially with the coil according to the invention.
Valve Drive Device for an Internal Combustion Engine
A valve drive device for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The valve drive device has an axially displaceable cam element and an adjusting device with a first engagement element which displaces the cam element axially into a first switching position and a second engagement element which displaces the cam element axially into a second switching position. The adjusting device has a first slotted guide track in which the first engagement element is guided in the first switching position and a second slotted guide track in which the second engagement element is guided in the second switching position. The first engagement element is positively coupled to the second engagement element. The adjusting device includes a triggering device which holds the first engagement element fixedly in the second switching position counter to a restoring force. A method for axial displacement of a rotating cam element is also disclosed.
VALVE TRAIN FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
