VARIABLE RESTRICTION VALVE FOR VEHICLE EXHAUST SYSTEM
20190338686 · 2019-11-07 ·

A valve assembly for a vehicle exhaust system includes a rigid mount structure that is configured to be mounted within an exhaust component that defines an exhaust gas passage. The valve assembly further includes a plurality of flexible members that each extend from a first end to a second end. One of the first ends and second ends of the flexible members is fixed to the rigid mount structure and the other of the first ends and second ends is free to move such that the plurality of flexible members creates a variable restriction to flow through the exhaust component that varies in response to a pressure difference upstream and downstream of the plurality of flexible members.

Gas flow and sound control valve for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine comprising a housing including an inlet, a first outlet, and a second outlet, and a valve member arranged within the housing for forming a first conduit connecting the inlet to the first outlet and/or a second conduit from the inlet to the second outlet, wherein the valve member can be moved relative to the housing between a first predetermined position in which the valve member closes the second conduit and a second predetermined position in which the valve member closes the first conduit, whereby the valve member is rotatable around a valve axis aligned parallel, in particular coaxial, to a centerline of the inlet.

Exhaust control system

An exhaust management system for use in a motor vehicle having a muffler and a combustion engine generating an exhaust also has a bypass channel configured to be mounted to bypass the muffler of the exhaust system. The system also has a valve controlling air flow through the bypass channel, and a controller operably coupled with the valve. The controller is configured to be switchable between at least two modes. The at least two modes include a provider dynamic mode configured to be modified by a provider only, and a user dynamic mode configured to be modified by a user. The user has no rights to modify the provider dynamic mode.

A road vehicle comprising: a passenger compartment; an internal combustion engine; an exhaust system, which releases into the atmosphere the gases generated by the combustion, is connected to the internal combustion engine, and ends with at least one silencer having at least one outlet pipe; and an exhaust noise transmission device, which is provided with a transmission conduit, which originates close to the outlet pipe of the silencer, ends in the area of a wall of the passenger compartment, and is provided, on the inside, with at least one insulating element, which is arranged inside the transmission conduit so as to tightly seal the transmission conduit.

MUFFLER HAVING MOVABLE BAFFLE AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

A muffler having a movable baffle may include a housing where an input pipe into which exhaust gas is flowed from an engine and an output pipe through which the exhaust gas is expelled to atmosphere are disposed, a baffle which is configured to be slidable along the longitudinal direction of the housing and divides the space of the housing, baffle moving means for moving the baffle to an arbitrary position within a predetermined range along the longitudinal direction of the housing, and a controller which data for determining whether to move the baffle or not is input thereto when the engine is driven, determines whether to move the baffle or not by use of the input data and controls the baffle moving means when the baffle is determined to be moved.

GASOLINE PARTICULATE FILTER DIAGNOSTICS

Methods and systems are provided for diagnostics of a gasoline particulate filter in an exhaust system. In one example, a method may include indicating degradation of a hose coupled across a particulate filter responsive to a difference between a first differential pressure and a second differential pressure being greater than a threshold, the first differential pressure measured by a differential pressure sensor positioned in the hose responsive to a downstream exhaust tuning valve being fully open, the second differential pressure measured by the differential pressure sensor responsive to the exhaust tuning valve being fully closed.

Gasoline particulate filter diagnostics

Methods and systems are provided for diagnostics of a gasoline particulate filter in an exhaust system. In one example, a method may include during conditions where a differential pressure sensor is exposed to changing exhaust pressure, indicating degradation of a hose coupled across a particulate filter in an exhaust system responsive to a change in differential pressure measured by the differential pressure sensor being different than an expected change, the differential pressure sensor positioned in the hose and the particulate filter positioned upstream of an exhaust tuning valve.
