SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSIS OF NOX STORAGE CATALYST
A system includes a controller configured to perform an enable operation responsive to receiving information indicative of an enable parameter, the enable operation includes: determining a predicted downstream NOx value of an exhaust gas stream exiting a NOx storage catalyst; determining a downstream NOx value of the exhaust gas stream exiting the NOx storage catalyst; determining an error between the predicted downstream NOx value and the determined downstream NOx value; comparing the error to an error threshold; and determining that the NOx storage catalyst is in good health responsive to determining that the error does not exceed the error threshold. The controller is further configured to perform a disable operation responsive to receiving information indicative of a disable parameter, the disable operation causing a deactivation of at least a portion of the controller.
Exhaust-gas aftertreatment device for an internal combustion engine, and method for heating an exhaust-gas aftertreatment device
An exhaust-gas aftertreatment device for an internal combustion engine, for use in a motor vehicle, includes an exhaust tract with at least one exhaust pipe and at least one exhaust-gas aftertreatment element. The exhaust-pipe internal wall and/or the at least one exhaust-gas aftertreatment element have/has a vapor-sorbing material forming at least one exhaust-tract-side sorption element.
System and method for placeshifting media playback
Systems and methods of placeshifting media playback between two or more devices are provided. For example, a method for placeshifting media may include downloading onto a first device an index of files accessed or modified on a second device via a data storage server, at least one of the files being a media file played on the second device. The first device may display a user selectable list of the files on the first device before issuing a request for the media file to the data storage server. The data storage server may send the media file to the first device from the data storage server, and the first device may play back the media file where the second device left off.
IN-EXHAUST ELECTRICAL ELEMENT FOR NOx STORAGE CATALYST AND SCR SYSTEMS
An exhaust system comprising: a NOx storage catalyst; an electric heating element; and a NOx reduction catalyst wherein the heating element is located downstream of the NOx storage catalyst.
EXHAUST GAS AFTERTREATMENT DEVICE FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The invention relates to an exhaust gas aftertreatment device for an internal combustion engine, where the device comprises: an exhaust duct allowing a through-flow of exhaust gas; a catalytic NOx converter arranged in the exhaust duct; and a fluid inlet arranged to introduce a liquid reductant into or onto a structure in the exhaust duct upstream the catalytic NOx converter. The invention is characterized in that the structure is a sorption structure having pores configured to retain the liquid reductant in liquid form until it evaporates. The invention also relates to a vehicle provided with such a device.
Evaporative fuel vapor emission control systems
An evaporative emission control canister system comprises an initial adsorbent volume having an effective incremental adsorption capacity at 25° C. of greater than 35 grams n-butane/L between vapor concentration of 5 vol % and 50 vol % n-butane, and at least one subsequent adsorbent volume having an effective incremental adsorption capacity at 25° C. of less than 35 grams n-butane/L between vapor concentration of 5 vol % and 50 vol % n-butane, an effective butane working capacity (BWC) of less than 3 g/dL, and a g-total BWC of between 2 grams and 6 grams. The evaporative emission control canister system has a two-day diurnal breathing loss (DBL) emissions of no more than 20 mg at no more than 210 liters of purge applied after the 40 g/hr butane loading step.
METHOD, SYSTEM, AND DEVICE FOR DECONTAMINATING POLLUTED COMBUSTION GAS USING VOLCANIC ROCK
The present disclosure encompasses methods and systems for decontaminating polluted gas using heated volcanic rock.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING CONTAMINANT STORAGE IN A STORAGE CATALYST
An internal combustion engine system includes an engine and an aftertreatment system that is connected to the engine to receive an exhaust flow from the engine. The aftertreatment system includes a contaminant storage catalyst for storing contaminants produced by the engine during cold start and low temperature operating conditions, and a NO.sub.x reduction catalyst downstream of the storage catalyst for receiving the contaminants released from the storage catalyst when temperature conditions in the exhaust flow and/or NO.sub.x reduction catalyst are above an effective temperature threshold for NO.sub.x reduction. A contaminant amount stored on the storage catalyst can be estimated in response to one or more operating parameters to manage a storage capacity of the storage catalyst. A bypass can used to bypass the storage catalyst to preserve storage capacity for a subsequent cold start condition.
Reduction of N2O in the exhaust gas of lean-burn petrol engines
The present invention relates to the use of different regeneration strategies for nitrogen oxide storage catalysts (NOx storage catalyst, LNT or NSC), depending on the exhaust gas temperatures, to reduce in the total exhaust gas the greenhouse gas N.sub.2O (nitrous oxide) that is produced as a secondary emission during the regeneration of the storage catalyst. If the exhaust gas temperature is below 275° C.-290° C., regeneration takes place using a strategy with short pulses of around 2 seconds and λ Lambda 0.95 rich.
