Exhaust pipe assembly and method of fastening a sheet-metal tab to an exhaust pipe

An exhaust pipe assembly comprises an exhaust pipe extending along a pipe axis and a fastening panel that is mounted to the exhaust pipe. The cross-section of the fastening panel is configured in a curved manner, and two contact surfaces of the fastening panel, which are spaced apart in the circumferential direction, are soldered to the exhaust pipe. A support connected with the fastening panel is arranged between the two contact surfaces of the fastening panel. The fastening panel can be fastened to the exhaust pipe by the following steps: an exhaust pipe and a sheet-metal tab are provided; a soldering material is then captively fixed to the sheet-metal tab; and the sheet-metal tab is then arranged on the exhaust pipe such that the soldering material contacts the exhaust pipe to finally solder the sheet-metal tab to the exhaust pipe.

Selective catalytic reduction warmup system

An engine and after treatment system comprising an engine with an exhaust line engaged to upstream after treatment components, the upstream after treatment components engaged to a selective catalytic reduction converter, a means for bypassing the upstream after treatment components to allow engine exhausts to warm a catalyst within the selective catalytic reduction converter. One version allows indirect warming of the catalyst by providing a pathway for engine exhausts thru a warming cavity located on an outer region of the selective catalytic converter and then back thru the upstream after treatment components.

A muffler includes a muffler housing having an exhaust gas inlet port adapted for securing to an exhaust pipe of an automobile so that exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine of the automobile are directed through the muffler housing from the exhaust gas inlet to an exhaust gas outlet. The muffler housing includes a plurality of rigid surfaces that form an exhaust gas pathway including a plurality of turns and lead from the exhaust gas inlet port to the exhaust gas outlet port. A photocatalyst coating is secured to an area of the rigid surfaces, and a light source is secured to the muffler housing and positioned to direct light onto the photocatalyst coating. The exhaust gases come into contact with the photocatalyst coating and reactive species generated by the photocatalyst coating decompose one or more pollutants in the exhaust gas.

Outboard motor

An outboard motor includes a first exhaust passage connected to an exhaust port and extending downward from the exhaust port through a support frame on a lateral side of a cylinder head. A first case accommodates an engine. A second case accommodates a propeller shaft. A third case is between the first case and the second case in a vertical direction. An exhaust pipe is between the first case and the second case in the vertical direction. The exhaust pipe is connected to the first exhaust passage. At least a portion of the exhaust pipe is outside the third case as seen in a side view of the outboard motor. An exterior cover is between the first case and the second case in the vertical direction. The exterior cover covers the exhaust pipe.

Engine exhaust gas recirculation system

An exhaust gas recirculation system for a multi-cylinder engine is provided, which includes an exhaust manifold connected to a cylinder head, a catalyst connected to a downstream end of the exhaust manifold in terms of an exhaust gas flow, an EGR gas outlet provided downstream of the catalyst, an in-head EGR passage penetrating the cylinder head, and an EGR pipe extending from the EGR gas outlet and directly connected to an inlet of the in-head EGR passage to lead EGR gas thereto. The catalyst is disposed so that the exhaust gas flows therein from a first side to a second side in an engine cylinder lined-up direction. The EGR gas outlet is located on the second side with respect to the center of the engine in the cylinder lined-up direction, and the inlet of the in-head EGR passage is located in the first side with respect to the engine center.

The two-stage turbocharger includes a high-pressure turbocharger coupled to the exhaust manifold, and a low-pressure turbocharger coupled to the high-pressure turbocharger. The high-pressure turbocharger is arranged on a side of the exhaust manifold. The low-pressure turbocharger is arranged above the exhaust manifold. An exhaust gas outlet of the high-pressure turbocharger and an exhaust gas inlet of the low-pressure turbocharger are coupled with each other through a flexible high-pressure exhaust gas pipe.

The construction machine includes an upper frame, an engine mounted on the upper frame via a plurality of engine mounts, a hydraulic pump coupled to the engine, the exhaust-gas after-treatment device, and a support cradle supporting the exhaust-gas after-treatment device over the hydraulic pump. The upper frame includes a plurality of mount support portions and a leg support portion. The support cradle includes a support stage on which the exhaust-gas after-treatment device is mounted, and a plurality of legs. The plurality of mount support portions include a space-defining mount support portion defining a horizontal space against the hydraulic pump. The plurality of legs include an in-space leg extending in the space. The leg support portion is located to overlap the space in a plan view.
