COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD FOR DETECTING A FAULT IN A SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCER ASSEMBLY
A computer-implemented method for detecting a fault in a selective catalytic reducer assembly of an internal combustion engine system includes: receiving, by processing circuitry of a computer system, upstream pressure information indicative of an exhaust gas pressure at a position upstream the diesel particulate filter, as seen in an intended direction of flow from the internal combustion engine to the diesel particulate filter; receiving, by the processing circuitry, pressure difference information indicative of a pressure difference across the diesel particulate filter; and using, by the processing circuitry, the upstream pressure information and the pressure difference information to determine whether or not a fault has occurred in the exhaust selective catalytic reducer assembly.
Aftertreatment heater management for efficient thermal management
A system, method, and apparatus for decreasing harmful emissions is provided. The system includes an aftertreatment system comprising an exhaust conduit that directs exhaust gas from an engine system; a heater coupled to the aftertreatment system and configured to provide heat; and a controller coupled to the heater. The controller is configured to: determine whether the engine system is idling; in response to determining that the engine system is idling, determine whether a conversion efficiency of the engine system is greater than a threshold value; in response to determining that the conversion efficiency is greater than the threshold value, determine whether a temperature regarding the aftertreatment system is greater than a threshold temperature; and in response to determining that the temperature of the aftertreatment system is greater than the threshold temperature, at least one of disable or partially disable the heater.
EXHAUST AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC AND CONDITIONING
An engine diagnostic tool includes a diagnostic engine calibration module structured to include a plurality of diagnostic processes for operating an internal combustion engine system of an immobilized vehicle. One or more of the plurality of diagnostic processes are structured to be an intrusive diagnostic process for the internal combustion engine system, wherein the intrusive diagnostic process causes the internal combustion engine system to operate outside of one or more calibration parameters. The diagnostic engine module is further structured to control the order and timing of each diagnostic process in the plurality of diagnostic processes.
Method for injecting reductant into an exhaust gas of an engine using an oscillating supply pressures
A method for injecting a reductant into an exhaust gas of a power system. The method includes injecting the reductant at a commanded flow rate, while simultaneously oscillating a supply pressure of the reductant between a higher supply pressure and a lower supply pressure.
Selective dosing module control system
Systems and methods to selectively control plurality of dosing modules may include receiving data indicative of an exhaust flow rate. An amount of reductant to be dosed may be determined based, at least in part, on the data indicative of the exhaust flow rate. A decomposition delay time may also be determined and a first dosing module and a second dosing module may be selectively activated. The first dosing module may be selectively activated at a first time and the second dosing module is selectively activated at a second time. The second time is based on the first time and the determined decomposition delay time.
System, method, and apparatus for managing aftertreatment temperature
A system and method are disclosed for controlling the temperature of an aftertreatment system, the method including interpreting an aftertreatment indicating temperature, determining that an engine fueling requirement is zero, and disengaging the engine from a transmission in response to the aftertreatment indicating temperature falling below a first threshold value and in response to the engine fueling requirement being zero, where the engine and the transmission comprise a portion of a vehicle powertrain. Alternatively, the method may include interpreting an aftertreatment indicating temperature, determining that an engine fueling requirement is zero, and performing a reduced air flow operation through the engine in response to the aftertreatment indicating temperature falling below a first threshold value and in response to the engine fueling requirement being zero.
Muffler with Selected Exhaust Pathways
The muffler for a motorized vehicle includes a housing with an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, an exhaust inlet, and an exhaust outlet. The muffler includes a first channel with a first noise dampening amount that is within the housing interior, to fluidly connect the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber. The muffler includes second channel with a second noise dampening amount that is within the housing interior between the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber. The first noise dampening amount is greater than the second noise dampening amount. A valve selectively fluidly connects the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber thorough the second channel, and is configured to variably obstruct the flow of exhaust gas through the second channel. In various embodiments, the muffler has more than one inlet chamber and more than one exhaust outlet.
Vehicle ambient air purification arrangement and method, and a vehicle and vehicle fleet comprising such arrangement
A vehicle ambient air purification arrangement, a vehicle, a vehicle fleet and a method for purifying air ambient to a vehicle are provided. The arrangement comprises an air conveying apparatus and a controller. The controller is arranged to control the air conveying apparatus to convey ambient air through ducts and filters of a vehicle exhaust gas treatment system in response to a determination that a combustion engine is inoperative and that a voltage supplied to the arrangement exceeds a threshold voltage.
Method for Injecting Reductant into an Exhaust Gas of an Engine
A method for injecting a reductant into an exhaust gas of a power system. The method includes oscillating injections of the reductant between a higher reductant injection rate and a lower reductant injection rate. The higher injection rate is high enough to result in storage of a decomposed form of the reductant on a selective catalytic reduction on-filter (SCR+F), and the lower injection rate being low enough to result in depletion of the decomposed form of the reductant on the SCR+F. The SCR+F includes a diesel particular filter and a selective catalytic reduction catalyst applied thereto.
