Methods and systems for improving fuel economy and reducing emissions of a vehicle with an electric motor, an engine, an energy storage device, and a controller are disclosed. The method includes obtaining current state information including a current hybrid control surface, and determining a target hybrid control surface for the vehicle based on the current state information.

CO2 recovery system

A CO.sub.2 recovery system used in a vehicle includes a CO.sub.2 recovery device recovering CO.sub.2 contained in inflowing gas; and a flow rate control device controlling flow rates of gases present in a plurality of different regions of the vehicle flowing into the CO.sub.2 recovery device. The gases present at the plurality of different regions include at least any two among air at an outside of the vehicle, air at an inside of the vehicle, and exhaust gas discharged from a body of an internal combustion engine of the vehicle.

CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

A CPU prompts a user to drive a vehicle to a repair shop by operating a display when an amount of PM deposited in a GPF increases. When a regeneration request for the GPF is input from a shop-side terminal in the repair shop, the CPU performs a regeneration process in a state in which the vehicle stops. The CPU controls a temperature of the GPF such that the temperature at the time of execution of the regeneration process becomes lower when an opening/closing member is in a closed state than when the opening/closing member is in an open state.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE SYSTEM

A maintenance system includes a processing circuit that executes a calculation process for calculating recommended execution time of a regeneration process. The processing circuit of the maintenance system also executes a display process for displaying the calculated recommended execution time. The processing circuit executes an analysis process for analyzing a usage mode of a vehicle based on history information of travel data. The processing circuit refers to an analysis result of the analysis process in the calculation process. When the analysis result of the analysis process indicates a usage mode in which overaccumulation is unlikely to recur, the processing circuit calculates the recommended execution time shorter than when the analysis result does not indicate the usage mode in which the overaccumulation is unlikely to recur.

Diesel exhaust fluid doser protection during cold ambient temperature conditions using cylinder cutout methods

A system includes an exhaust aftertreatment system in exhaust gas receiving communication with an engine including a plurality of cylinders where the engine is structured to operate according to low load conditions and where a controller is structured to determine that at least one diesel emissions fluid (DEF) doser is frozen based on at least one of an ambient air temperature and a DEF source temperature. The controller is structured to operate the engine according to a skip-fire mode in response to a DEF flag indicating that the at least one DEF doser is frozen. The skip-fire mode comprises firing a portion of the plurality of cylinders that is less than a total amount of cylinders of the plurality of cylinders. The controller is structured to discontinue the skip-fire mode in response to determining that the at least one DEF doser is likely thawed.

METHOD FOR PRECONDITIONING AT LEAST A PART OF AN ENGINE SYSTEM OF A VEHICLE

A method for preconditioning at least a part of an engine system of a vehicle. The engine system includes an engine and an exhaust aftertreatment system, EATS. The method providing predicted vehicle operational information comprising a vehicle operational initialization time and predicted engine operation, determining whether or not cold-start emissions of the predicted engine operation achieves a threshold criterium, in response to achieving the threshold criterium, preconditioning at least a part of the engine system such that at least said part of the engine system is preconditioned at a time of the vehicle operational initialization time.

METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR DE-ICING A VALVE OF AN EXHAUST SYSTEM

Systems and methods for operating an engine that includes an exhaust tuning valve in its exhaust system are described. In one example, a position of the exhaust tuning valve may be adjusted to reduce a possibility of the exhaust tuning valve becoming stuck due to freezing water. In particular, the exhaust tuning valve may be cycled as ambient temperature approaches a temperature at which water freezes.

Method to control a burner for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine

A method to control a burner for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas after-treatment system including at least one catalytic converter. The method provides the steps of calculating the thermal power needed to reach the nominal operating temperature of the at least one catalytic converter and determining an actual number of revolutions with which to operate a fresh air pumping device based on the sum of a nominal number of revolutions, a closed-loop contribution of the number of revolutions with which to operate the fresh air pumping device, and a further contribution of the number of revolutions with which to operate the fresh air pumping device in order to ensure optimal thermal power exiting the burner.
