An assistive stretching device worn by a user to reduce physical stress while lifting to aid another individual in stretching and method is disclosed. The device includes a belt sized to fit around the torso of the user, first and second pulleys supported on the belt, first and second wrist attachments; first and second ankle attachments; first and second cords threaded through corresponding pulleys with one end attached to corresponding ankle attachments and the opposite end attached to corresponding wrist attachments. The pulleys operate to change the direction of the lifting force, making it easier to lift and stretch the anterior aspects of the musculature of the individual rather than lifting dead weight. An attachment including a dual pulley system may replace the first and second pulleys and includes an arm supporting a pulley at each end and openings to provide leverage adjustments when attaching the arm to the belt.

In some embodiments, the resistance garments may include a body portion, first and second leg portions, and an elastic strap assembly secured to the body portion and the first and second leg portions. The elastic strap assembly may be configured to apply (1) a first force at the wearer's hips that urges the thighs of the wearer toward the wearer's torso, and (2) a second force at the wearer's thighs that urges the thighs of the wearer toward each other. In some embodiments, the elastic band assembly may include a belt, first and second knee bands, front elastic straps in the form of an X-shape with ends that are attached to, or formed with, the belt and knee bands, and rear elastic straps in the form of an X-shape with ends that are attached to, or formed with, the belt and knee bands.

The exosuit may be assistive, as it physically assists the wearer in performing particular activities, or can provide other functionality such as communication to the wearer through physical expressions to the body, engagement of the environment, or capturing of information from the wearer.

The elongated member further includes a pair of recessed portions. The recessed portions are configured to curve around a soleus portion of a user's legs. A pair of straps affixed to opposing ends of each recessed portion removably secure about a front of the user's legs. In one embodiment, the elongated member is hingedly divided into two parts, wherein each part includes a clamp slidably secured thereto and a recessed portion, thereby providing a storage configuration.
