Method and Apparatus for Transferring Auxiliary Power from an Engine Crankshaft Output to a Supercharger Input That Circumvents Belt Path Obstacles
A method and apparatus that circumvents belt path obstacles in a Corvette C8 engine for transferring auxiliary power from the engine crankshaft output pulley to a supercharger input pulley by using a drive path transfer apparatus including a transfer input pulley located in the same plane as the crankshaft pulley and connected to it with the main drive belt, a transfer output pulley in a second plane spaced inboard of the first plane including the supercharger pulley, a secondary belt joining the transfer output pulley and the supercharger pulley, and a coupling shaft having the transfer input pulley at one end and the transfer output pulley at the other end, the coupling shaft being rotationally mounted in a two-piece installable bracket secured on the engine block in a location to the side of the obstruction, thereby transferring power from the engine to the supercharger without interference from the obstruction.
Vehicle, having an internal combustion engine which comprises a flexible drive
A vehicle having an internal combustion engine mounted in the vehicle such that a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine runs in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle is provided with a flexible drive is provided that comprises a wheel, in particular a pulley, which is arranged such as to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the vehicle and which is arranged in front of the internal combustion engine when viewed in the direction of travel of the vehicle. The wheel has at least one weakened section which allows or facilitates a compression of the wheel in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle upon a head-on collision. In addition, the wheel may be arranged to cooperate with a recess in the front of the engine to permit further displacement of the wheel toward the engine during a collision.

V ENGINE HAVING VALVE PROPERTY VARYING MECHANISM
Provided is a V engine which uses common cylinder heads, and permits favorable arrangement of oil passages so as to accommodate various oil regulating features that are required to operate valve property varying mechanisms. Each end of each cylinder head is formed with a plurality of distribution oil passages opening out at an upper surface of the cylinder head for supplying oil pressure from a main gallery to a valve actuating mechanism. A pair of oil passage connecting members internally defining mutually different connecting oil passages are attached to the upper surfaces of the corresponding end parts of the respective cylinder heads.
Supercharger assembly
The present invention relates to a vehicle supercharger assembly (14) comprising a generator comprising a first armature (14) being adapted for permanent drive from a source of motive power; a supercharger impeller (24) arranged to be driven via a gear train; an electric motor comprising a second armature (28), said second armature (28) being coupled to the gear train; a first clutch (32) for selectively coupling the first armature (14) to the gear train for driving the supercharger impeller (24) in a first mode of operation in which the electric motor is operable to adjust the speed of the supercharger impeller (24); and a second clutch (34), operable when said first armature (14) is coupled to the gear train, for selectively locking the gear train so as to prevent relative rotation of the first and second armatures in a second mode of operation.

CHAIN GUIDE ASSEMBLY FRAME
To provide a chain guide assembly frame capable of efficiently collecting the oil that adhered to various parts of the chain guide assembly, and guiding the collected oil to predetermined locations, to allow efficient use of oil, with a simple structure. The chain guide assembly frame includes driven sprocket holding portions, a fixed chain guide, and a pivoting chain guide holding portion on a main body. A drive sprocket holding portion is provided at a position lower than the driven sprocket holding portions. The main body includes a concave and/or convex oil passage that extends from an upper part toward a lower part to guide the oil toward above the drive sprocket holding portion.
BELT DRIVE SYSTEM FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A belt drive system for rotatably coupling an internal combustion engine to an electric machine is described. The belt drive system includes a serpentine belt and a hydraulic strut tensioner, wherein the hydraulic strut tensioner is disposed to exert a tension force on the serpentine belt. A controller is operatively connected to the electric machine and includes an instruction set that is executable to periodically induce a reduction in torque output of the electric machine.
