Disclosed is a vehicle control method which comprises the steps of: determining whether or not a squat of a rear end of a vehicle body is equal to or greater than a given level; determining whether or not turning manipulation of a steering device has been made; and, when the turning manipulation of the steering device is determined to have been made, controlling each part of an engine (4) to reduce an output torque of the engine (4), wherein, in response to the determination that the turning manipulation of the steering device has been made, a reduction amount of the output torque of the engine is increased when the squat of the rear end of the vehicle body is equal to or greater than the given level, as compared to when the squat is less than the given level.

Speed control device, automatic navigation system and method of controlling speed

A speed control device which is satisfactory in response and tracking to a speed setting, and can adjust an acceleration-and-deceleration feel according to preferences, is provided. The speed control device 6 controls a speed of a ship so that the speed automatically follows a speed setting set by a ship operator. The speed control device 6 includes a target speed setting module 63 and a change rate adjusting module 64. The target speed setting module 63 sets a target speed that is a target of the speed of the ship to follow, for every unit time, according to the speed setting, to change the target speed based on a given rate of change. The change rate adjusting module 64 decreases the rate of change by adjusting the rate of change at multiple stages, when the target speed set by the target speed setting module 63 approaches the speed setting.

Methods and system for arbitrating fuel cut out for a hybrid vehicle

A method and system for operating a hybrid vehicle that includes an integrated starter/generator and a driveline disconnect clutch is described. In one example, the method determines whether or not to rotate an engine via an electric machine while propelling a vehicle via the electric machine according to vehicle efficiency.

Methods, systems and devices for evaluating incoming air to an engine, industrial controller including engine controls, valves and solenoids, for concentrations of explosive or combustible gases or vapors, and actuating process control including but not limited to shutting down an engine or other industrial process to control an outcome including the prevention of an overspeed condition when pre-set or calculated elevated gas or vapor concentrations are detected. In some embodiments industrial control including engine shutdown may be achieved conventionally via an electronic kill signal, a shutdown of the fuel injector, carburetor or fuel pump, and in emergency conditions by the shutoff of incoming air to an air intake, turbocharger, or other air delivery systems. Decisions based on explosive gas or vapor concentrations and species and the use of networking to allow additional systems to take action before explosive gases or vapors reach said other valve-sensor devices can provide additional safety.

VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS AND VEHICLE CONTROL METHOD

A vehicle control apparatus includes a detector that detects an external temperature of a vehicle, a vehicle speed, and a coolant temperature of an engine, an input device that receives a signal for ON or OFF operations of a heating control, and a controller configured for determining a heating load depending on the heating control when the external temperature is less than a predetermined temperature and the signal for the ON operation of the heating control is input, and controls an operation of an integrated thermal management valve, a deactivation operation of cylinders included in the engine, and an operation of an active air flap, according to at least one of the heating load and the coolant temperature.

Engine start control system for a hybrid vehicle

A vehicle includes a powertrain and a controller. The powertrain has an engine and an electric machine that are each configured to generate power within the powertrain to propel the vehicle. The controller is programmed to, generate a powertrain power output profile required to propel the vehicle over a predetermined route based on navigation data. The controller is further programmed to, in response to the electric machine operating to propel the vehicle over the predetermined route while the engine is shutdown and an upcoming increase in the powertrain power output profile to a value that is greater than a threshold, initiate an engine start at a predetermined time period before the upcoming increase in the powertrain power output profile.

Exhaust valve failure diagnostics and management

A method of operating an engine is provided. An exhaust valve actuation fault is detected for a first exhaust valve associated with a first cylinder during a first working cycle. In response to the detection of the exhaust valve actuation fault, fueling to at least the first cylinder is cut off. Actuation of the first exhaust valve is attempted in second working cycles that follow the first working cycle, wherein the second working cycles are not fueled. Whether or not the first exhaust valve actuated properly during the second working cycles is determined. Operation of the first cylinder is resumed when it is determined that the first exhaust valve actuated properly. Operation of the first cylinder is not resumed when it is determined that the first exhaust valve did not actuate properly.

Multi-fuel system and method

A method provides for operating an engine configured to use a plurality of differing fuels. The method includes determining a fuel combustion ratio of the plurality of differing fuels associated with at least one engine cylinder of the engine based at least in part on one or more of a plurality of characteristic profiles. This maintains one or more of a plurality of actual values associated with usage of the plurality of differing fuels relative to defined corresponding threshold values. The fuel combustion ratio includes a ratio of the plurality of differing fuels to be delivered to the at least one engine cylinder. A fuel delivery system delivers the plurality of differing fuels to the at least one engine cylinder based on the fuel combustion ratio.

Transmission Shaft Brake for Engine Auto Restart
20230142057 · 2023-05-11 ·

A system and method for controlling a hydraulic fracturing pumping system is described herein. The method can include stopping an engine coupled to a hydraulic fracturing pumping system including at least one pump by supplying pressure from an accumulator to a hydraulic braking system including a brake. The method can also include starting the engine coupled to the hydraulic fracturing pumping system and releasing the brake.

20170370266 · 2017-12-28 ·

An exhaust treatment device for a diesel engine is provided, which includes a parked regeneration requirement notification component and a parked regeneration start operation component. A regeneration process of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) includes an automatic regeneration process and a parked regeneration process. The automatic regeneration process is automatically started when an estimation value of particulate material (PM) accumulated in the DPF reaches a predetermined automatic regeneration start determination value. The parked regeneration process is performed when first and a second conditions are satisfied. The first condition is that a parked regeneration requirement notification component performs a notification of a parked regeneration requirement when a number of cancellations of the automatic regeneration process reaches a predetermined value. The second condition is that the parked regeneration start operation component is subjected to a start operation during a parked state in which an engine equipped machine is neither traveling nor working.
