METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE DYNAMICS OF A SENSOR IN THE FRESH AIR OR EXHAUST GAS TRACT OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
A method for diagnosing the dynamics of a sensor in the fresh air or exhaust gas tract of internal combustion engines, as well as a computer program, a computer program product and a corresponding vehicle. It is provided that a corresponding sensor for measuring a pressure signal in the fresh air or exhaust gas tract of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, which is coupled with a control and computing unit, is checked with respect to its dynamic characteristics. Measured values of differing frequency ranges are measured, these being used as the basis for a calculation of a characteristic. After the calculation, the characteristic is compared with a threshold value stored in a user-defined manner in the control and computing unit. If the calculated characteristic deviates from the threshold value, at least one triggering signal is triggered, so that an impaired sensor dynamic of the sensor is displayed.
Engine control unit (ECU) and method to adapt the ECU for trigger wheel irregularities
An Engine Control Unit (ECU) for adapting to irregularities in a trigger wheel includes a memory element that stores a table with data of dimensions of the trigger wheel. The ECU is configured to (i) use a position sensor to detect a tooth and a corresponding tooth number, and (ii) set a time range for detection of a subsequent tooth with reference to the data in the memory element. The ECU is further configured to (iii) prevent errors due to irregularities in the trigger wheel in order to reinforce the ECU or an Engine Position Management System (EPMS) by adapting to a profile of each tooth of the trigger wheel, and in order to avoid an error in a plausibility check of the position sensor due to irregularities in the trigger wheel.
Differential cylinder balancing for internal combustion engine
A method of adjusting operation of an internal combustion engine includes injecting fuel into cylinders of the internal combustion engine (first fuel operation); obtaining a first fuel exhaust temperature profile during the first fuel operation; injecting two fuels into the cylinders in a duel fuel operation; obtaining a duel fuel exhaust temperature profile; and adjusting the injection quantity and/or an injection timing of one fuel in a cylinder(s), based on a difference between the first fuel exhaust temperature profile and the duel fuel exhaust temperature profile. Other methods of operating with single fuel and using sensors other than exhaust temperature sensors are disclosed.
Method for monitoring a cylinder pressure sensor
A method for monitoring a cylinder pressure sensor, in which method the sensor value is checked for admissibility and inadmissibility in a predefinable crankshaft angle range, when admissibility is detected the cylinder pressure sensor is used further and when inadmissibility is detected the cylinder pressure sensor is deactivated. A first sensor value of the cylinder pressure sensor is set as a start value, and a second sensor value is set as a stop value, a plateau range is determined from the number of sampling steps between the start value and the stop value, and the plateau range is set as decisive for the admissibility or inadmissibility of the sensor values.
Humidity measurement device, control device for internal combustion engine, and abnormality detection device
A humidity measurement device is configured to measure a humidity of a gas. The humidity measurement device includes: a second-order calculation part to calculate a second-order differential value by performing second-order differentiation by time on a humidity signal output from a humidity detection part; and an adherence determination part to determine whether a liquid has adhered to the humidity detection part based on the second-order differential value obtained by the second-order calculation part.
Engine controller, engine control method, and memory medium
An engine controller is provided. A second calculation process calculates an intake air amount without using an output of an air flow meter. A second determination process determines whether an intake air pulsation in an intake passage is great without using the output of the air flow meter. When the intake air pulsation is determined to be great by at least one of a first determination process and the second determination process, a calculation method switching process selects the calculated value of the intake air amount obtained by the second calculation process as a calculated value of the intake air amount used to determine an operation amount of an actuator.
Methods and systems for vehicle diagnostics
Methods and systems are provided for a turbocharger of a hybrid vehicle. In one example, a method comprising spinning a turbine in a reverse direction during an engine off event to execute a diagnostic test.
Systems and methods for a crank sensor having multiple sensors and a magnetic element
Embodiments for crankshaft tooth sensing are provided. A method may include identifying a first tooth characteristic of a tooth of a plurality of teeth on the crank pulse wheel. The first tooth characteristic is identified by a first sensor element sensing along a first axis of a magnetic field and identifying a second tooth characteristic of the tooth with a second sensor element sensing along a second axis of the magnetic field. The method also includes identifying a tooth type for the tooth based on the first tooth characteristic and the second tooth characteristic. The method further includes identifying a sliding buffer for a set of N teeth of the plurality of teeth on the crank pulse wheel. A buffer value is calculated for the sliding buffer corresponding to the N set of teeth. The angular position of the crank pulse wheel is determined based on the buffer value.
ENGINE
An engine (21) including a cylinder internal pressure sensor (63), a torque sensor (64), and an engine control device (73). The cylinder internal pressure sensor (63) detects a cylinder internal pressure. The torque sensor (64) detects an engine load. The engine control device (73) receives a detection result of the cylinder internal pressure sensor (63) and a detection result of the torque sensor (64). If the load detected by the torque sensor (64) is zero (no load) and the cylinder internal pressure obtained from the detection result of the cylinder internal pressure sensor (63) is greater than or equal to a threshold, the engine control device (73) determines that an abnormality occurs in detection by the torque sensor (64).
