A cardiovascular exercise device is provided. The cardiovascular exercise device is for use to administer an exercise program including shuttle runs. The cardiovascular exercise device includes: a tower placeable at a first location; a user input associated with the tower; a pacing bar arranged to display a target pace of a user for a shuttle run of a track distance from the first location; and a processor configured to operate an exercise program. The administration of the exercise program includes the steps of: receiving a signal from the user input; defining a repetition as the time between subsequent signals from the user input; and indicating pacing information to the user based upon this signal.

A non-limiting example training instrument comprises a hollow main body formed of an aluminum alloy. The main body is constituted by two gripping portions opposite to each other with a space therebetween and a coupling portion coupling the two gripping portions. A load sensor is arranged in the coupling portion inside the main body. A system for measuring weight-lifting performance is described. Embodiments provide techniques for altering a virtual world based on combinational input gestures. Embodiments retrieve a definition for a combinational gesture within a computer game, the definition specifying physical actions to perform according to a specified timing schedule in order to successfully perform the combinational gesture. User activity is monitored to detect when a first user input from a first input devices sufficiently matches a first predefined pattern of user input corresponding to a first physical action, and to detect when a second user input from a second input device sufficiently matches a second predefined pattern of user input corresponding to a second physical action. Embodiments determine that the first and second user inputs were performed according to the timing schedule specified in the definition. A status of at least one aspect of a virtual world for the computer game is altered, based on performance of the combinational gesture.

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, an exercise device can include a body configured to be gripped by a user, wherein the body is configured to be used for exercise, at least one sensor attached to the body and configured to sense a motion, position, and/or orientation of the body, and at least one controller configured to receive sensor signals from the sensor and to send sensor signals or data to a remote computer. The body can be an exercise bar or any other suitable shape.
