Tolerance and wear compensation of a fuel pump
A method determines an inflection point OP of a parameter profile i, n which is representative of a component tolerance and a state of wear of a fuel pump. The fuel pump is provided for a fuel supply system for use in a device equipped with an internal combustion engine. The device being a passenger car, utility vehicle and/or a stationary or mobile power generator.
Fuel type estimation system, data analysis apparatus, and control apparatus for fuel supply apparatus
A fuel type estimation system configured to estimate a type variable related to a type of fuel in an engine system including an engine and a fuel supply apparatus includes a storage device and an execution device. The storage device is configured to store a mapping that uses, as inputs, input variables including an engine variable related to a condition of the engine and outputs the type variable. The execution device is configured to acquire the input variables, and estimate the type variable by applying the acquired input variables to the mapping.
Method and Device for Operating a Speed-Controlled Fluid Pump
A method for operating a speed-controlled fluid pump includes: providing an electrical control current for the fluid pump; providing a maximum value for the electrical control current, which maximum value corresponds to a maximum permissible pressure at an outlet side of the fluid pump; providing a threshold value for the control current, the threshold value corresponding to a further maximum permissible pressure at the outlet side of the fluid pump and is predefined in dependence upon at least one boundary condition, the threshold value being less than the maximum value for the electrical control current; and controlling the fluid pump with not more than the threshold value for the control current, if it has been determined that the at least one boundary condition holds, so as to limit the pressure at the outlet side of the fluid pump to a value provided for the at least one boundary condition.
APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING FUEL PUMP OF HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
An apparatus of controlling a fuel pump of a hybrid electric vehicle may which prevents frequent on/off operation of a fuel pump relay configured to control connection between a fuel pump controller and a power supply and ensures the durability of the fuel pump relay.
FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR DIAGNOSIS DEVICE
A fuel pressure sensor diagnosis device includes an electronic control unit configured to drive a fuel supply device during electric traveling of a hybrid vehicle, to perform determination as to whether an output of a fuel pressure sensor is within a normal range after driving of the fuel supply device is started, and to perform a diagnosis to determine whether a malfunction has occurred in the fuel pressure sensor based on a result of the determination, the normal range being an assumed range of the output of the fuel pressure sensor in a case where the fuel pressure sensor normally functions and the fuel supply pressure is a prescribed upper limit pressure.
METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A method for operating an internal combustion engine, in which fuel is supplied to the internal combustion engine by a rotary pump, and the speed of the pump and/or the electrical current for feeding the pump (pump current) is controlled in accordance with a requirement variable, taking into account a determination specification. When in an overrun mode, a calibration is carried out and the speed of the pump is detected and is maintained during the calibration step. Once the triggering pressure for a calibration valve, arranged on the high-pressure side of the pump, has been reached, the pump current is detected and the determined speed and the determined pump current are used to calibrate the determination specification. A calibration in the overrun mode is performed without alteration to the speed of the fuel pump. This prevents a variable behaviour of the fuel pump which might produce undesired operating conditions.
METHOD FOR OPERATING A DIESEL ENGINE
A method for operating an engine in which fuel is supplied to the engine by a fuel pump and by a high-pressure fuel pump, and in which the speed of the fuel pump and/or the electrical current for feeding the fuel pump is controlled in accordance with a requirement variable, taking into account a determination specification. When the engine has changed to an overrun mode of operation, a calibration is performed and the speed of the fuel pump is detected and is maintained. Once the triggering pressure for a calibration valve has been reached, the pump current is detected, a bypass volumetric flow rate of the high-pressure fuel pump is determined during calibration using operating parameters and the triggering pressure for the calibration valve, the determined speed, the bypass volumetric flow rate and the determined pump current are used to calibrate the determination specification.
REMOTE, BIDIRECTIONAL COMMUNICATION WITH AN ENGINE CONTROL UNIT
A system for reclaiming fuel from a vehicle fleet is comprised of a trailer capable of defueling multiple vehicles simultaneously that operates in conjunction with a remote computing device. The remote computing device communicates bi-directionally with an on-board computing device located in a combustion engine vehicle, where the on-board computing device is directed by the remote computing device to cause the vehicle's fuel pump to operate without starting the vehicle's engine. The remote computing device also queries for and receives data about the vehicle from the on-board computing device, such as the Vehicle Identification Number, diagnostic information about the vehicle, and/or data about how the vehicle is being driven and transmits such data to at least one second computing device in communication with the remote computing device.
Fuel pump module
A fuel pump module for a fuel tank prevents electrification of a filter within the fuel pump module. A port injection filter is housed in a filter case that is separate from a pump case that houses a port injection fuel pump. A ground bracket housed in the filter case includes a cylinder part, a first connection part, and a second connection part, which are formed as a single body and made of conductive resin. The cylinder part is disposed inside of the port injection filter. The second connection part is disposed on an opposite side of the bracket relative to the first connection part, where the first connection part is connected with the cylinder part, for the connection to the ground through a ground line. As a result, a static electricity caused by friction of fuel flowing through the filter is discharged to the ground.
Fuel supply device
A fuel supply device (1) has a valve (13) in a fuel passage between a fuel pump (3) and an engine (5). In a storage portion of an ECU (18-21) is stored a relationship between a fuel pressure and a flow rate, which are required by the engine, and voltage which is supplied to a motor (7). The ECU senses voltages V26, V27, V28 supplied to the motor from a controller (22) when the valve is opened from change points C1′, C2′, C3′ at which a characteristic between the voltage and the current which are supplied to the motor (7) is changed. Then, the ECU corrects the voltage stored in the storage portion on the basis of differences between voltages V1, V2, V5 stored in the storage portion at the change points C1, C2, C3 and the voltages V26, V27, V28 when the valve is opened. In this way, the fuel supply device can correctly control the motor in correspondence to the fuel pressure and the flow rate which are required by the engine.
