Failure diagnosis method and system of dual purge system

A failure diagnosis method and a failure diagnosis system of a dual purge system may determine whether a closed stuck failure or an opened stuck failure occurs in a line forming a dual purge system by measuring a pressure in a negative pressure formation device and comparing the corresponding pressure with a predetermined reference value when a purge valve of the dual purge system is in an opened or closed state, and may determine whether the failure occurs in components related to a secondary purge line in the dual purge system in which it is difficult to determine whether the failure occurs in a conventional failure diagnosis method of a single purge system in a simple method.

Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing a heating element coupled to a canister of an evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system. In one example, a method (or system) may include evacuating the canister at different temperature conditions, and diagnosing the heating element based on the different times taken to evacuate the canister at the different temperature conditions.

Method for actuating a dosing valve, tank ventilation system, and motor vehicle

A method actuates a dosing valve of a tank ventilation system. The dosing valve is opened not only once but twice at every activation time, and thus a generated pressure wave is depleted. An associated tank ventilation system and an associated motor vehicle make use of the method.

Fuel reactant leak detection system and method of detecting fuel reactant leaks

A vehicle, a vehicle fuel reactant leak detection system, a computer program product, and a computer implemented method of detecting leakage of a fuel reactant from a vehicle. The vehicle includes one or more fuel cell modules, a fuel supply source to supply a fuel reactant to the one or more fuel cell modules via a high-pressure fuel supply line, a fuel supply valve configured to open and close fuel reactant flow through the high-pressure fuel supply line, and a computing device, operatively connected to the fuel supply source. The computing device includes one or more processors caused to conduct, in response to a detection as sensor data of pressure in the high-pressure fuel supply line when the vehicle engine is in a non-operating state, fuel pressure analysis of the sensor data, and detect, based on the fuel pressure analysis, leakage of the fuel reactant at the fuel supply valve.

The invention relates to a method and a device for pressure sensor diagnosis in a tank venting system of a motor vehicle operated by an internal combustion engine, wherein the tank venting system comprises an activated carbon filter, a purge line arranged between the activated carbon filter and an intake tract of the motor vehicle, a tank venting valve arranged in the purge line and a pressure sensor arranged in the purge line, and wherein the method comprises the following steps: measuring a pressure prevailing in the purge line by means of the pressure sensor to determine a starting pressure, classifying the starting pressure into one of a plurality of pressure ranges depending on the amplitude of the starting pressure, carrying out a pressure sensor diagnosis using a diagnosis algorithm which is associated with the pressure range in which the starting pressure lies.

System and method for a vehicle diagnostic wakeup

Systems and methods for waking a controller from a sleep mode are described. In one example, the controller may be woke in response to an estimated amount of time that it will take for a temperature in an evaporative emissions system to be within a threshold temperature of ambient temperature.

Method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine

A method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine, the fuel tank system, whereby a gas transport device is operated and a shutoff valve is actuated by means of PWM, whereby the shutoff valve is opened and closed multiple times according to a PWM signal for implementing a defined opening state, a pressure oscillation of the purge gas, which results due to the corresponding opening and closing movements of the shutoff valve, being ascertained and evaluated with the aid of the pressure sensor according to a frequency diagnosis, and a distinction being made between an operability and a malfunction, based on the result of the evaluation.

A controllable device is coupled to the flexible MOF material, and a controller is operatively connected to the controllable device and the purge valve. The controller includes an instruction set that is executable to activate the controllable device and control the purge valve to an open state in response to a command to purge the canister, determine an activation parameter for the controllable device, determine a purge flow, integrate the purge flow to determine a total purge mass, and deactivate the controllable device when the total purge mass is greater than a threshold.

Method and Device for Operating a Fuel Evaporation Retention System of an Internal Combustion Engine

Various embodiments include a method for operating a fuel evaporation retention system of a vehicle with an internal combustion engine. It includes measuring a pressure change resulting from a temperature change of a gas volume in the fuel tank over a defined period of time while the vehicle is at a standstill after the engine controller has been switched off and comparing an expected pressure profile based on a given temperature profile based at least in part on the tank fill level and after the engine controller has been switched on to an actual measured pressure profile from a previous vehicle standstill phase. If the measured pressure profile lies within a settable tolerance around the expected pressure profile, the method confirms a leak-tight fuel tank. If the measured pressure profile lies outside the settable tolerance, the method identifies a faulty fuel tank and displaying an alert.
