A poppet valve device is proposed, comprising a valve stem, a poppet, having a sealing surface and being formed separately from the valve stem, wherein the poppet is actuatable via the valve stem, and wherein, following an imaginary line parallel to a longitudinal direction of the valve stem along the closing direction of the poppet, the sealing surface is passed before a front end of the valve stem is passed.

Method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine

A method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine, the fuel tank system, whereby a gas transport device is operated and a shutoff valve is actuated by means of PWM, whereby the shutoff valve is opened and closed multiple times according to a PWM signal for implementing a defined opening state, a pressure oscillation of the purge gas, which results due to the corresponding opening and closing movements of the shutoff valve, being ascertained and evaluated with the aid of the pressure sensor according to a frequency diagnosis, and a distinction being made between an operability and a malfunction, based on the result of the evaluation.

Leak proof solenoid valve with completely covered bobbin for controlling fuel emission

A leak proof, completely sealed solenoid valve, comprising a housing 14 having a fluid flow path controlled via an electrically operated mechanism to control a flow; the mechanism comprises metallic coil 20 coiled around a bobbin 16 supported by a magnetic bracket 24 with terminal pins 18 connected to the bobbin 16 for receiving electrical input to facilitate an energized and de-energized state to control the movement of a poppet 34 shaft that obstructs the flow; wherein, the bobbin 16 comprises micro-melting fins, thereby housing over molding creates strong bond between two materials; a permanent weld is created between the bobbin 16 and the housing 14 to prevent internal leakage; and the completely sealed solenoid valve limits emissions and evaporations of the volatile fuel components into and from the valve, and contribute to reliability and robustness of the product by completely sealing the nozzle and housing using laser welding.

FUEL TANK SYSTEM

In a fuel tank system, a control unit diagnoses a failure of a fuel storage unit and a processing unit. The fuel storage unit includes a vapor passage through which a fuel tank and a sealing valve are communicated with each other, a first pressure detection unit, and a second pressure detection unit disposed at a position different from the first pressure detection unit. The control unit specifies a presence or an absence of a clogging of the vapor passage based on a first pressure value detected by the first pressure detection unit and a second pressure value detected by the second pressure detection unit when the pressure in the fuel tank is changed by the pressure generation unit in a condition that the sealing valve is controlled to be opened.

MAGNETICALLY LATCHING VALVE FOR FUEL VAPOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND SYSTEMS INCORPORATING SAME

Magnetic latching valves for a vehicle engine have a housing having a first port and a second port in controlled fluid communication with one another. The housing encloses a linearly translatable armature seated within a solenoid and connected to a primary poppet valve. The armature is movable between an open position and a closed position, respectively, after a pulse of voltage to the solenoid and is in an unpowered state thereafter. A permanent magnet is fixedly seated in a position to magnetically latch the armature in a fully open position. A spring is seated to bias the primary poppet valve closed when the armature is in the closed position. The spring has a spring rate that mechanically relieves pressure by opening the primary poppet valve a distance less than the fully open position when the spring force is exceeded, thereby also allowing flow in the primary flow direction.
