CAMERA BASED VEHICLE START-STOP FEATURE
20170350360 · 2017-12-07 ·

A stop-start control system for a vehicle includes a camera disposed at the vehicle and having a field of view exterior and forward of the vehicle. A control includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to image processing of captured image data, the control determines the presence of a stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle. Responsive to determination of the presence of the stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle, and responsive to determination that the driver of the vehicle releases the accelerator pedal of the vehicle so the vehicle is coasting toward the determined stopping area, the control causes the engine to at least partially shut off.

Control Unit and Method for Preventing an Undesired Vehicle Motion

A method and a corresponding device are provided for preventing an undesired vehicle motion during an automatic switch-off process of a drive machine in a motor vehicle. An automatic switch-off process is initiated by a start-stop apparatus before the standstill is reached if the motor vehicle is braked because of a deceleration request and the speed of the vehicle is less than a specified first speed threshold. A brake pressure of suitable magnitude is caused to be locked-in in the brake system even before the vehicle reaches the standstill if a first signal indicating that the vehicle standstill will soon be reached and a second signal indicating that an inability of the drive machine to operate in a self-sustaining manner will soon be reached are acquired because of an initiated automatic switch-off process of the drive machine.

SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING TORQUE APPLIED TO ROTATING SHAFT OF ENGINE

In a system for controlling rotation of torque applied to a rotating shaft of an engine of a vehicle that uses the engine as a drive source thereof, a motor is provided. A main controller controls the engine and the motor. The main controller selectably activates the motor that applies first torque to the rotating shaft of the engine, and deactivates the motor. A rotary electric machine includes a rotor connected to the rotating shaft of the engine. A rotation parameter detector measures a rotation parameter associated with rotation of the rotor of the rotary electric machine. A sequence controller performs, in response to an occurrence of a trigger situation, a control sequence that controls, independently of the main controller, the rotary electric machine based on the rotation parameter measured by the rotation parameter detector, thus applying second torque to the rotating shaft of the engine.

System and method for preventing unwanted engine restarts while parking a vehicle

What is described is a system for controlling an engine of a vehicle. The system includes a gear shifter having a gear selection sensor configured to determine a selected gear position. The system also includes a proximity sensor configured to detect object data within a predetermined area of the vehicle. The system also includes a controller coupled to the gear shifter and the proximity sensor and configured to control the engine based on the selected gear position and the object data.

Idling stop control device
09821811 · 2017-11-21 · ·

An electronic control device automatically stops an engine operation when a remaining electric power amount index value is equal to or larger than an engine stop permission threshold. The device automatically restarts the engine operation when the remaining electric power amount index value is smaller than an engine restart threshold after the engine operation is automatically stopped. The device changes the engine stop permission threshold from a first threshold, which has been set until a start of an activation of an electric actuator, to a second threshold, which is larger than the first threshold, when the automatic engine stop is not carried out and the activation of the actuator is detected.

Vehicle control device

A vehicle control device includes a controller configured to perform: ignition starting of an engine when a detected crank angle is within a first area in which the ignition starting of the engine may be performed with probability not smaller than a first predetermined value; and the ignition starting of the engine while increasing an engine speed by engaging a clutch to transmit torque of a drive wheel to a crankshaft when the crank angle is within a second area in which the ignition starting of the engine may be performed with probability not smaller than a second predetermined value smaller than the first predetermined value and smaller than the first predetermined value, the instruction is output based on a signal indicating that a braking unit is turned on, and a gear of a transmission is not in neutral.

Vehicle and method of controlling engine start for the same

Disclosed are a vehicle and an engine control method for more conveniently restarting an engine in the state in which a function of automatically turning off the engine is activated during braking for improving fuel efficiency. The engine control method includes turning off an engine through an idle stop and go (ISG) system during braking due to manipulation of a brake pedal, determining whether at least one preset starting condition is satisfied based on information on a forward environment, and turning on the engine irrespective of whether manipulation of the brake pedal is released when any one of the at least one starting condition is satisfied.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE HAVING A START-STOP SYSTEM, AND ASSOCIATED MOTOR VEHICLE

A method for operating a motor vehicle with a start/stop system (2) for a combustion engine (4) of a motor vehicle (1) with a device (3) for detecting an area ahead of the vehicle, wherein the start/stop system (2) stops the combustion engine (4) if a speed of the motor vehicle (1) depending on at least one signal relating to the driving dynamic of the vehicle (1) falls below a limit value, wherein the combustion engine (4) is not stopped if a road unevenness that requires decelerated driving over is detected in the area ahead of the vehicle by means of the device for detecting the area ahead of the vehicle.

METHOD AND SYSTEM OF ANTI-IDLING CONTROL FOR VEHICLES

A method and system for anti-idling management for a vehicle including an anti-idling system (AIS) is disclosed. Based on inputs from different sources associated with the vehicle, the AIS determines when anti-idling management should be enabled in order to control the engine of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the AIS includes an AIS battery that can be used to power auxiliary vehicle components when the vehicle is stopped via anti-idling control management.

Engine starter unit

An engine starter unit for starting an engine, includes a starter, a first controller, and a prohibiting means. The starter includes a motor generating a rotary force and a pinion transmitting the rotary force generated by the motor to the engine, the starter cranking the engine up to an engine speed of 450 rpm or more in a drive ON state. The first controller turns the starter into the drive ON state to make the starter start cranking in response to an ON operation of an ignition switch by a user. The prohibiting means prohibits the starter from being turned into the drive ON state again in response to another ON operation of the ignition switch for a prohibition duration after the first ON operation by the user.
