Dual-Stage Fluidics System With Reduced Pulsation
Disclosed is a dual-stage fluidics system that has reduced pulsation. This system uses inexpensive peristaltic pumps and two reservoirs that dampen pulsations in pressure. Peristaltic pumps are used as air pressure pumps and sheath fluid pumps that are placed between the two pressurized reservoirs and isolate the two reservoirs. Since the two reservoirs are maintained at a substantially even pressure, pulsations are reduced so that the peristaltic pumps essentially provide air flow and sheath fluid flow as needed.
Disposable Alternating Tangential Flow Filtration Units
Disclosed herein are robust disposable alternating tangential flow (ATF) housing and diaphragm pump units and associated methods of manufacturing, testing, wetting, and using the same.
Diaphragm pump
A diaphragm pump includes: a housing; a diaphragm; an actuator configured to reciprocate the diaphragm based on a previously selected operation mode out of a plurality of operation modes; a setting device configured to set and send an operation mode and operating conditions; and a control device configured to receive the operation mode and the operating conditions from the setting device, and control the actuator to move the diaphragm forward or backward in accordance with the operation mode and the operating conditions received from the setting device. The plurality of operation modes include a normal operation mode in which the actuator is driven to perform a series of a suction process to suck a fluid and a discharge process to discharge the sucked fluid, and a partial operation mode in which the actuator is driven to perform the series of processes partially.
Hose Pump
A novel hose pump for viscous material includes a hose, a variator, a variator drive, a controller, a pressure-tight housing, and a negative pressure connection. The hose has an elastic circumferential wall and an inner cross-sectional area and is open at both ends. The hose includes a pressure-tight inlet opening and a pressure-tight outlet opening. A portion of the hose is enclosed within the pressure-tight housing. The negative pressure connection is coupled to the pressure-tight housing. The variator is adapted to compress the hose and thereby to reduce the inner cross-sectional area of the hose. The variator drive causes the variator to compress the hose at controlled locations along the hose. The controller controls the variator drive. The variator rotates and compresses the hose where the variator contacts the hose. Alternatively, multiple variators form pinch valves at fixed locations along the hose and compress the hose independently of one another.
Fluid pumping systems, devices and methods
Described are fluid pumping and fluid handling systems, which may be suitable for use in medical devices, such as artificial or extracorporeal blood pumping systems. The systems can include a dual housing configuration for pneumatic actuation comprising a main housing containing a pump cassette comprising a pneumatically actuated pump and pneumatically actuated valves. The pump can include a pump actuation chamber and pump pneumatic port, and the valves can each include a valve actuation chamber and valve pneumatic port. Connecting tubes can be used to fluidly connect the pump actuation ports and valve actuation ports to a tube-support housing having a first side receiving one end of each connecting tube and a second side providing a pneumatic interface arranged to connect to an array of pneumatic receptacles on a base unit of the system to facilitate easy, compact and accurate pneumatic interconnection between the pump cassette and the base unit.
Negative pressure wound therapy device with silent piezoelectric pump
A negative pressure wound therapy device includes at least one piezoelectric pump and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to generate a first control signal to control operation of the at least one piezoelectric pump, the control signal having a first root mean square (RMS) voltage, transmit the first control signal to the at least one piezoelectric pump, identify at least one of a change of state of the at least one piezoelectric pump or an expiration of a duration of time associated with operation of the at least one piezoelectric pump, responsive to identifying the at least one of the change of state or the expiration of the duration of time, generate a second control signal having a second RMS voltage less than the first RMS voltage, and transmit the second control signal to the at least one piezoelectric pump.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INFUSING FLUID THROUGH A TUBE BY APPROPRIATELY HEATING THE TUBE
A peristaltic pump disclosed herein includes a raceway, a plunger, a motor, and a heater. The raceway is configured to retain a tube (e.g., an IV tube). The plunger acts on the tube disposed within the raceway. The motor engages the plunger to actuate the plunger. The heater is disposed in thermal-conductive contact with the tube. That is, the heater, either through direct or indirect application, heats the tube.
Method of controlling the hydraulic fluid pressure of a diaphragm compressor
A method of controlling the injection of hydraulic fluid into a high pressure diaphragm compressor having a hydraulic system, the method including: measuring a representation of pressure in a high-pressure part of the hydraulic system of the diaphragm compressor, and maintaining a desired pressure in the high-pressure part of the hydraulic system by adding hydraulic fluid to the high-pressure part of the hydraulic system under the control of a controller on the basis of the measuring of pressure.
Plunger pumping arrangement for a hollow fiber filter
A fluid filtration assembly includes a filter housing having a first end for fluid connection with a fluid storage vessel. A filter cartridge is disposable within the filter housing, and a plunger pump is coupled at a second end of the filter housing. The plunger pump includes a housing having a rigid portion and a flexible portion. The flexible portion has a plunger-engaging portion for coupling to the plunger of an actuator. The flexible portion selectively movable with respect to the rigid portion via the actuator. The filter cartridge can be a hollow fiber filter. The plunger pump can be configured to induce alternating tangential flow in at least a portion of the assembly. The fluid filtration assembly can be provided as a disposable single-use arrangement.
System and method for operating a pump in a humidifier
A pump arrangement for powering a pump in providing a controlled volume of water to a drip nozzle in a drip-feed humidifier. The pump arrangement includes: a pump having a solenoid; a processing unit; and a power supply electrically connected to the solenoid via a switch which is controlled by the processing unit. The power supply is structured to supply power to the solenoid via the switch. The processing unit is programmed to modulate the power provided to the solenoid via the switch such that the power is supplied to the solenoid according to a power profile for each actuation of the solenoid. The power profile includes: an initial portion which increases at a first overall rate, an intermediate portion which increases at a second overall rate different than the first overall rate, and a final portion which decreases at a third overall rate.
