These are arranged in the machine housing along the longitudinal axis. The first scroll unit and the second scroll unit engage with each other to form pressure chambers. The first scroll unit can be moved relative to the second scroll unit along an orbital path. An intermediate base is provided along the longitudinal axis between the second scroll unit and the high-pressure chamber.

An axially movable sealing plate is arranged between axial faces of the gears and a housing part. This has a sealing plate control groove that is open to the faces of the gears and that can be pressurized, and which is open to the radial gap and located directly opposite thereto. The pinion segment and/or hollow gear segment has a radial sealing segment control channel that can be pressurized and extends transversely, is open to the radial gap, and ends directly in the radial gap.

A system and method are presented for improved performance of gerotor compressors and expanders. Certain aspects of the disclosure reduce porting losses in a gerotor system. Other aspects of the disclosure provide for reduced deflection in lobes of an outer rotor of a gerotor system. Still other aspects of the disclosure provide for reduced leakage through tight gaps between components of a gerotor system.
