Water pump

A water pump includes a mechanical seal provided between a housing and a rotary shaft for preventing cooling water from leaking from a whirl chamber. The housing forms a space into which cooling water leaked from between the mechanical seal and the rotary shaft is flown and a water vent for discharging cooling water flown into the space. The housing is joined with a thermostat cover to form a reservoir communicating with the water vent. The reservoir has a drain for releasing evaporated cooling water to the air and a control wall for preventing cooling water remaining as liquid from flowing out through the drain.

The pumping apparatus can include an outboard seal radially surrounding an adapter shaft. The outboard seal can be retained in place by a front bracket at a front end of the outboard seal and a retention lip of the adapter shaft at a rear end of the outboard seal. The pumping apparatus can further include an inboard seal radially surrounding the adapter shaft and located between the outboard seal and the pump. The inboard seal can be retained in place by a rear bracket at a front end of the inboard seal.

Sealing device for an immersible pump

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for an immersible pump. The apparatus can include a shaft for communicating with a motor. The shaft includes a first region having a first diameter, a second region having a second diameter that is less than the first diameter, and a tapering region between the two regions. A sleeve can be provided to receive the shaft. A sealing device includes a receiving area in which the tapering region is at least partially positionable to form a seal, and an abutment that is configured to form a seal with the sleeve and that is responsive to a force directed from the sleeve to enhance the seal with the tapering region. In some embodiments, the sealing device is provided with a circumferential outer wall for centering the sleeve about the shaft and/or for aligning the force with the abutment.

Load Sharing Spring for Tandem Thrust Bearings of Submersible Pump Assembly
20170234321 · 2017-08-17 · ·

A submersible well pump assembly has upper and lower seal sections connected between the pump and a motor. The seal sections have drive shafts with thrust runners that engage thrust bearing bases. The upper drive shaft will undergo a limited amount of downward movement toward the lower drive shaft in response to wear of the upper thrust bearing base. A spring between ends of the drive shafts transfers a portion of the down thrust on the upper drive shaft to the lower drive shaft prior to the limited amount of downward movement of the upper drive shaft toward the lower drive shaft being reached. A rigid stop member in the coupling transfers down thrust directly from the upper drive shaft to the lower drive shaft, bypassing the spring, only after the limited amount of downward movement of the upper drive shaft toward the lower drive shaft has been reached.
