A METHOD OF PUMPING A LIQUID MEDIUM, A CENTRIFUGAL PUMP AND AN IMPELLER THEREFOR
An impeller for a centrifugal pump includes a hub, a shroud extending outwardly from the hub and dividing the impeller into front and rear sides, a working vane on a first face of the hub and the shroud at the front side, a rear vane on a second face of the shroud at the rear side, and a balancing conduit extending through the hub from a first opening at the first face to a second opening at the rear side of the impeller. The first opening is disposed closer to the axis than the second opening, and the first opening is located within a circle formed by a radially innermost part of the working vane, while the impeller is rotated about the axis, and the second opening or the balancing conduit at the rear side of the impeller is located at a smallest diameter of the shroud.
Water pump
A water pump that minimizes defects in which cooling water flows externally is provided. The water pump is provided with a rotating shaft supported by a body via a bearing, an impeller that is disposed at one end of the rotating shaft, and a seal member that is disposed between the impeller and the bearing. A drain passage that sandwiches the seal member and communicates with a space formed on the opposite side of the impeller is formed in the body, and a reservoir is formed downstream from the drain passage. At an upper position of a wall portion that forms the reservoir, a drain hole is formed, and a water-absorbing planar member is positioned in the reservoir.
Fluid intensifier for a dry gas seal system
A gas supply system for a mechanical seal turns on the gas supply at a pressurized flow rate at the time of compressor case pressurization and remains on during compressor rotation until pressure is adequate. The gas supply system has an intensifier that includes a pair of mechanically inter-connected pneumatic pressure cylinders which comprise a drive cylinder that affects movement of a boost cylinder wherein the displacement of these mechanically interconnected pistons in the drive cylinder and boost cylinder intensifies the pressure being discharged by the boost cylinder and supplied as a barrier fluid to the mechanical seal. The intensifier uses a control valve and operating system which includes a fast-acting 5/2-way solenoid valve having a feedback loop connected to a control system which includes a microprocessor that controls valve actuation.

Guard for a rotary pump
Guards for rotary pumps are described, the pump having a main body and further including an impeller housing and a driveshaft extending between the main body of the pump and the impeller housing; the pump further including an adjustable sealing arrangement provided at a region where the driveshaft enters the impeller housing, the guard provides access to adjust the sealing arrangement but obstructs access to the driveshaft.
Turbocharger compressor oil deflector and method
A turbocharger includes a two-piece thrust collar that includes inner and outer portions disposed around a rotatable shaft. The inner portion is engaged with a bushing disposed in and connected to the center housing by a retainer. The outer portion is disposed adjacent the inner portion along the rotatable shaft and connected to the rotatable shaft such that it rotates therewith. The outer portion forms an annular channel that extends in a radial direction relative to the rotatable shaft and peripherally around the shaft. An oil deflector is connected to the compressor back-plate and includes a base flange and a raised portion disposed at least partially over the annular channel.

ISOLATED THRUST CHAMBER FOR ESP SEAL SECTION
An electric submersible pumping system for use in pumping fluids from a wellbore includes a motor that is filled with a motor lubricant, a pump driven by the motor, a thrust chamber connected between the motor and the pump, and a seal section. The thrust chamber is filled with thrust chamber lubricant and the motor and seal section are filled with motor lubricant. To prevent the mixing of the thrust chamber lubricant with the motor lubricant, the thrust chamber is in fluid isolation from the motor and the seal section. The electric submersible pumping system may include an upper seal section, a lower seal section or both upper and lower seal sections.
Water pump and method for producing water pump
A pump is provided which includes a pump housing, a drive shaft rotatably installed in the pump housing through a ball bearing, a pulley integrally connected to one end of the drive shaft through a flange wall, an impeller connected to the other end of the drive shaft, a cylindrical base part integrally connected to an outer periphery of the flange wall and six through openings formed in an outer peripheral part of the flange wall, in which each of the through openings has, at a generally middle part of a bottom surface of an inner surface thereof, a pathway groove that extends substantially along an inner cylindrical surface of the cylindrical base part, so that the performance of discharging water, dust and the like from the through openings formed in the flange wall is increased.
Turbomachine
Leakage of a working fluid from a shaft sealing device of a turbomachine which handles a liquid as the working liquid is reduced and also unstable fluid force which acts on a rotor is reduced. For this purpose, the turbomachine has a rotor having an impeller, a bearing which rotatably supports the rotor, a casing which contains the rotor therein and forms a stationary flow passage, and the shaft sealing device which reduces the leakage of the working fluid through a gap part between the casing and the rotor. The working fluid is a liquid. A plurality of axial grooves which are intermittently arranged in axial direction and circumferential direction of the rotor with a land part being interposed are provided in an inner circumferential surface of the shaft sealing device.
