Wave energy device with constricted tube and generator pod
A wave energy converter utilizes a flotation module that rises and falls with the passage of waves, a submerged tube containing a constriction which multiplies the speed of the water passing therethrough, a turbine (or other hydrokinetic apparatus) positioned so as to extract energy from the accelerated flow of water within and/or through the tube, and a submerged gas- or liquid-filled chamber housing one or more energy conversion components (e.g. generators, transformers, rectifiers, inverters). By providing a chamber in proximity to the turbine, generators can be placed in closer proximity to the turbine that turns them, and the shared shaft can be shorter than if the generators were placed in the buoy adjacent to the surface.
Floating body for tidal current power generation and power generation method using same
A floating body for tidal current power generation of the present invention comprises: a power generation unit comprising a water wheel and a power generator connected to the water wheel; and a body part provided with tidal current inlet and outlet paths having a cross-sectional area that is gradually reduced from the front and rear surfaces thereof toward the water wheel. According to the present invention, a plurality of floating bodies for tidal current power generation are disposed in parallel so that the longitudinal direction of the tidal current inlet and outlet paths coincides with the direction of the tidal current in a terrain such as a strait with a narrow width. In addition, provided is a power generation method which is a method for adjusting the draft of a floating body for tidal current power generation depending on the flow velocity of the tidal current, thereby smoothly performing power generation even when the flow velocity of the tidal current becomes slower as tidal stand nears.
REACTIVE, REVERSIBLE BLADE TURBINE FOR POWER GENERATION AND PUMPING WATER
A reactive blade turbine system works vertically, horizontally, or at an angle and clockwise or counterclockwise according to blade angle and locking position and adjusts to variations in fluid flow such as changes in tidal currents to generate power more efficiently regardless of direction of fluid flow. A method for generating electrical power from a continuous fluid flow via the reactive turbine system is also provided herein.
Tidal power generator
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a tidal power generator may comprise: a plurality of channel levees which are arranged spaced apart from each other so as to form a channel having a constant width and which have a plurality of installation grooves, each being formed by recessing the surface facing the channel, wherein a tidal current can move forward/backward in the channel; a first water collection levee extending from the front end of the channel levees with reference to a movement direction of the tidal current and having a peak shape of which the width is gradually reduced towards the front side of the channel; a second water collection levee extending from the rear end of the channel levees with reference to the movement direction of the tidal current and having a peak shape of which the width is gradually reduced towards the rear side of the channel; and a waterwheel module which is inserted and installed in the installation groove and can generate power using movements of the tidal current.
Floating, yawing spar current/tidal turbine
The present invention describes a floating yawing spar buoy current/tidal turbine. The spar includes a spreader above the rotor(s) with the spreader tips connected to fore and aft cable yokes that transition to opposing mooring lines connected to anchors on the seabed. The spreader comprises a yaw motor, which drives gears that engage with a ring gear fixed to the outer perimeter of the spar.
ANGLE-ADJUSTABLE TURBINE
There is provided a turbine with a turbine body, a support frame, and a generator. The turbine body has a plurality of turbine blades, a shaft defining a rotational axis, and a bottom apex. Each of the turbine blades has a lower edge, and the lower edges taper upward relative to the bottom apex such that the lower edges trace a convex surface as the turbine body rotates about the rotational axis. The support frame is connected to the shaft by an angularly adjustable connection that adjusts the angle of the shaft relative to the support frame. The angularly adjustable connection permits rotation of the shaft about the rotational axis, and the generator is powered by the rotation of the shaft.
DEVICE FOR RECOVERING WAVE ENERGY
The invention relates to a device for recovering wave energy, the device including a drum which is adapted to rotate around its centre axis and inside which an electric generator is adapted, arranged to be rotated by the rotating motion of said drum. In order for the device to recover energy better than prior art devices, the device includes at least one wing adapted on the outside of the drum, the wing being arranged to turn in such a way that it may be turned from a first position to a second position whereby, as the wing is in its first position, the motion of water in a first direction of the drum centre axis is arranged to rotate the drum in a first direction, and as the wing is in its second position, the motion of water in a second direction of the drum centre axis is also arranged to rotate the drum in said first direction, and the turning of the wing is arranged to take place under control of a pressure sensor.
HERMETIC CAP TIDAL PULSE RESPONDER
A concave hermetic air/brine encapsulating vessel, or cap 10, positioned in the sea at a chosen area according to tidal range. Wherein the open underside of the vessel allows brine/sea water to freely enter or exit the vessel and the tide rises and falls respectively. This rise and fall of the brine within the vessel will result in changes to the air pressure within the vessel, as the air because pressurised as the brine rises, and forms a vacuum with the vessel as the brine falls. These changes in pressure are used to operate a pneumatic actuator 60, via a suitable system of valves 50,52 coupled to the inlets and/or outlets of a pipe couple to a vent 30 on the upper portion of the vessel, or within a plurality of pipes couple to a manifold 40 coupled to the vent 30. Wherein the operation of the pneumatic actuator 60 powers a generator 62 for producing and storing power.
SUBMERGED TIDAL ENERGY POD
Disclosed is a submerged tidal energy pod. The submerged tidal energy pod for harnessing tidal kinetic energy through ebbing and surging of tidal currents to produce electrical energy, the submerged tidal energy pod includes a turbine adapted for producing electrical energy using harnessed tidal kinetic energy through multiple aerodynamic and unidirectional water-flow designed blades regardless of ebb and flow of water currents, rotatable and perpendicularly connected with the turbine using corresponding blade arms.
