METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HYDROSTATIC FLUID BEARING WITH CELLS
The method comprises depositing a coating of metal material on the inside surface of the body (4) of the stator (36), impregnating said coating with a self-lubricating composite material (20), machining internal cells (28) in the thickness of the coating (10), and machining orifices (34) leading into the cells.
BOWED ROTOR START RESPONSE DAMPING SYSTEM
A method of bowed rotor start response damping for a gas turbine engine is provided. A spring rate and a damping characteristic of one or more bearing supports in the gas turbine engine are selectively modified while a shaft of the gas turbine engine rotates below a speed which is adversely affected by a bowed rotor condition of the gas turbine engine.
Turbocharger bearing fluid film surface and method
A bearing system and method may include a bearing element that may have a first surface. A mating element may have a second surface that may face the first surface. A fluid film interface may be defined between the first and the second surfaces. The mating element may rotate about an axis and relative to the bearing element. An axial direction may be defined parallel to the axis. A radial direction may be defined perpendicular to the axis. The first surface may have a profile that may vary in the axial direction and that may varies in the radial direction. The profile may direct a fluid present in the fluid film interface in a direction or directions having circumferential and/or axial components.
Exhaust-gas turbocharger
An exhaust-gas turbocharger (1) comprising a compressor (2); a turbine (3); and a bearing housing (4), in which there is arranged a bearing cartridge (5), secured against axial displacement and twisting; and a single fixing element (6) securing the bearing cartridge (5) both against axial displacement and also twisting in the bearing housing (4). Also a method for assembling a bearing cartridge (5) in a bearing housing (4) of an exhaust-gas turbocharger (1).
Turbocharger
The invention relates to an exhaust-gas-driven turbocharger having a hydrodynamic plain bearing having a rotor and a stator, the rotor being rotatable with respect to the stator, the rotor bearing surface being located opposite a counter-surface of the stator in order to generate hydrodynamic pressure in the region of a converging gap. In such a hydrodynamic plain bearing, the application properties can be improved by the fact that the rotor bearing surface and/or the counter-surface constitutes in a section view, in the context of a section along and through the rotation axis, a continuous bearing contour that is constituted from convex or concave curvatures and/or from at least two contour segments that are embodied as straight lines and/or curvatures. The invention also relates to a hydrodynamic plain bearing or bearing arrangement having such a plain bearing.
Seal assembly for a turbomachine
A seal assembly for a turbomachine. The turbomachine includes a rotating shaft extending along a centerline and a fixed housing positioned exterior to the rotating shaft in a radial direction relative to the centerline. The seal assembly includes a sump housing at least partially defining a bearing compartment for holding a cooling lubricant. The seal assembly further includes a bearing supporting the rotating shaft. In addition, the seal assembly also includes a sump seal at least partially defining the bearing compartment. A pressurized housing of the seal assembly is positioned exterior to the sump housing and defines a pressurized compartment to at least partially enclose the sump housing. Further, a non-contacting carbon seal is positioned between the rotating shaft and the fixed housing to at least partially define the pressurized compartment to enclose the sump housing.
Gas bearing seal
A turbomachine includes a compressor section, a turbine section, and a rotary component. The rotary component is attached to and rotatable with a portion of at least one of the compressor section and the turbine section. The turbomachine additionally includes a seal having a gas bearing. The gas bearing defines an inner surface along a radial direction of the turbomachine, a high pressure end, and a low pressure end. The gas bearing supports the rotary component and also prevents an airflow from the high pressure end to the low pressure end between the rotary component and the inner surface of the gas bearing.
AIR BEARING COOLING PATH FOR COMPRESSOR DEVICE
A turbomachine includes a rotating group with a turbine wheel. The turbomachine also includes a housing that houses the rotating group, wherein the housing defines a turbine outlet passage for exhaust from the turbine wheel. The turbine outlet passage is directed in a downstream direction along an axis of the turbine outlet passage. The turbomachine includes an air bearing system with at least one bearing component that supports the rotating group for rotation relative to the housing. The air bearing system includes a bearing cooling path that is fluidly connected to the at least one bearing component and that has a bearing air line outlet. The bearing air line outlet is fluidly connected to the turbine outlet passage and is directed in the downstream direction along the axis.
Pivot and gear train
The invention relates to a pivot pin (5) for an epicyclic gear train sliding bearing, the pivot pin having a portion (23) forming a central shank, extending around an axial passage (15), and axially opposed, axially open circumferential grooves (25a,25b) which radially separate two axially opposed lateral end portions (230a,230b) of the central shank from two cantilevered lateral portions (27a,27b). With respect to a plane (33) perpendicular to said axis of the axial passage (15) and passing through the axial middle of the axial passage, the axial distance between said plane (33) and the bottom end of one of the circumferential grooves (25a) is smaller than the axial distance between said plane and the bottom end of the axially opposed circumferential groove (25b).
Power modules with regenerative compressor wheels
A power module includes a turbine arranged along a rotation axis, an interconnect shaft fixed in rotation relative to the turbine, and a compressor with a regenerative compressor wheel. The regenerative compressor wheel is fixed in rotation relative to the interconnect shaft supported for rotation with the turbine about the rotation axis. Generator arrangements, unmanned aerial vehicles, and methods of generating electrical power are also described.
