SPRING LOADED SLEEVE VALVE WITH CONTROLLED CLOSING FORCE
20230109588 · 2023-04-06 ·

A sleeve valve includes an inlet port and an outlet port. A sleeve is movable to close flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. The sleeve valve has a sleeve biased to an open position at which it allows flow from the inlet port to the outlet port by a spring. Pressure in a pressure chamber urges the sleeve to a closed position at which it blocks flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. A line pressure conduit communicates the fluid chamber into the pressure chamber. Pressurized air is supplied to the pressure chamber through a selectively closed valve. The selectively closed valve is opened to allow the flow of high pressure air from a pressure source into the pressure chamber to move the sleeve to a closed position. A bleed air system for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

DEPLOYABLE GRILLE WITH FINS FOR AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE THRUST-REVERSAL SYSTEM
20170370325 · 2017-12-28 · ·

A deployable grille with fins for a thrust-reversal system for an aircraft turbine engine. The grille can adopt a rest position and a deployed, active position wherein the fins are axially spaced further apart than in the rest position. At least between two fins, the grille includes resilient return device forcing the two fins to move apart axially from one another.

Confluence structure of a primary stream and a secondary stream in a bypass turbine engine

A confluence structure of an aircraft bypass turbine engine which includes a confluence plate with a downstream end supported by a portion that is movable in the direction of the axis by a control mechanism which can optionally be adjusted in flight. A mobile portion of a sleeve delimiting the secondary stream on the outside, and an inner projection of the outer casing can also slide axially in certain embodiments. This provides a wide range of options for modifying the gas dilution and operating conditions of the engine.

SECURING A CENTERING SPRING TO A STATIC STRUCTURE WITH MOUNTING TABS

An assembly is provided for a piece of rotational equipment with an axis. This assembly includes a static structure, a bearing within a bore of the static structure, and a centering spring mounting the bearing to the static structure. The static structure is configured with the bore, a slot, a first slot surface and a second slot surface. The slot extends radially into the static structure from the bore. The slot extends axially within the static structure between the first slot surface and the second slot surface. The centering spring includes an annular hub and a mounting tab. The annular hub is within the bore. The mounting tab projects radially from the annular hub into the slot.

CARBON SEAL SPRING ASSEMBLY

A carbon seal assembly for a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The carbon seal assembly includes a first carbon seal. The carbon seal assembly also includes a first carbon seal spring configured to provide force against the first carbon seal in a first axial direction, the first carbon seal spring having an annular shape and circumferentially disposed around a first shaft of the gas turbine engine.

ALTITUDE COMPENSATING BLEED VALVE

A valve includes a housing with a mounting portion, a venting portion, and a cap portion. The valve also includes a piston in the housing with a shaft, a disc, and a flange, the piston being moveable between a closed position and an open position. The valve also includes a vessel that is in contact with the cap portion and the flange wherein fluid pressure contained in the vessel biases the piston into one of the opened position and the closed position.

Hinged seal using wire mesh

A seal segment includes a flapper seal, a wire mesh acting as a hinge for the flapper seal, and a spring. The flapper seal has a first surface and a second surface. The wire mesh includes a first section connected to the first surface of the flapper seal and a second section connected to the first section. The spring includes a first end that is in contact with the first section of the wire mesh to apply pressure to the first surface of the flapper seal and a second end adjacent the second section of the wire mesh.

Containment case active clearance control structure

A propulsion system including a casing surrounding a fan rotor assembly is provided. An example casing includes an outer layer material, an inner layer material including first openings extended partially through the inner layer material along a radial direction of a first side of the inner layer material, and second openings extended partially through the inner layer material along the radial direction of a second side of the inner layer material opposite the first side, and a spring member coupled to the outer layer material and the inner layer material.

Thrust reverser compression rod engagement apparatus

A compression rod engagement apparatus is provided that includes an engagement feature, an engagement feature pin, and a mounting member. The engagement feature is attached to the engagement feature pin. The engagement feature pin is engaged with the mounting member in a home position and axial travel of the engagement feature pin along a lengthwise axis away from the home position in either axial direction is resisted by at least one spring force.

Linkage system with wear reduction

A linkage system includes a pivot bias assembly at each pivot which removes internal clearances and resultant vibratory wear. The pivot bias assembly includes a cavity which defines an axis transverse to the pivot axis. A spring biased piston is located therein to provide a radial load toward the rotation pivot to close radial clearances. The spring loaded piston reduces all the radial internal clearances to zero to reduce vibratory wear created by engine vibratory inputs. An assembly flat is positioned such that the component is assembled in a non-operating angular position such that the spring biased piston is under minimal or no load then the component is rotated into operating position so as to preload the spring biased piston.
