CONDITION-BASED VALIDATION OF PERFORMANCE UPDATES
Systems and methods for condition-based validation of performance updates are provided. According to one embodiment of the disclosure, a method can include operating an asset under updated settings, ascertaining ambient conditions of the asset and matching the ambient conditions to a condition range, determining whether data completion criteria for the condition range are satisfied and, based at least in part on the determination, selectively switching between using the updated settings for operating the asset and using baseline settings for operating the asset while collecting data points for a predetermined period of time.
COMPUTERIZED SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUTOMATIC MODE OPERATION AND CONTROL OF A CEILING FAN
Disclosed are systems and methods of a novel framework for automatically and dynamically controlling an operational mode of a ceiling fan based on real-time detected information related to a location. The framework can sense a temperature in/at a location (e.g., a temperature proximate to the ceiling fan), in addition to other climate-related characteristics of the location (e.g., humidity, for example), and leverage such location-based climate information as input to control operation of the ceiling fan, and the mode's characteristics (e.g., speed and runtime). Occupancy data related to users' physical positioning respective to the ceiling fan can additionally be leveraged to control the operation mode. The framework can enable a reduction in resource expenditure (e.g., reduced energy usage and HVAC runtime, for example), as the ceiling fan can be utilized to maintain a location's temperature control without the need for operation of a HVAC system.
Reducing contrails from an aircraft powerplant
A method is provided during which an aircraft powerplant is provided. The aircraft powerplant includes a combustor and a water recovery system. The water recovery system includes a condenser and a reservoir. Fuel is combusted within the combustor to provide combustion products. Water is extracted from the combustion products using the condenser. The water recovery system is operated in one of a plurality of modes based on likelihood of contrail formation. The modes include a first mode and a second mode, where the water is collected within the reservoir during the first mode, and where the water passes through the water recovery system during the second mode.
CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR
A centrifugal compressor includes: a casing; a compression mechanism disposed inside the casing; a flow rate regulation valve disposed inside the casing and that regulates a flow rate of air sucked into the casing; a conversion mechanism disposed outside the casing and that changes a direction of the flow rate regulation valve based on an output of an actuator; and a cover that surrounds and houses the conversion mechanism, wherein dry air is supplied to an inside of the cover, and the cover forms an air reservoir that prevents dew condensation on the conversion mechanism.
CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD
A control system and method utilizing one or more processors that are configured to determine contaminant loading of blades of a turbomachinery compressor based on one or more environmental conditions to which the turbomachinery compressor is exposed and one or more atmospheric air inlet conditions of the turbomachinery compressor. The one or more processors then determine a corrosion contaminant concentration on the blades of the turbomachinery compressor based on the contaminant loading that is determined and determine an upper limit on or a distribution of potential corrosion of the blades of the turbomachinery based on the corrosion contaminant concentration, at least one of the environmental conditions to which the turbomachinery compressor is exposed, and the corrosion contaminant concentration that is determined.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PLANNING ENGINE BORESCOPE INSPECTIONS BASED ON FOD PROBABILITY ESTIMATION
A system for identifying timeframes for borescope inspections for a gas turbine engine, having: monitoring systems monitor engine conditions, derive engine condition information and communicate such information to processors; feature interpreter module electronically communicates (i) with processors to process engine condition information, and (ii) feature interpreter information to processors, such information defines a probability of a FOD event; accumulator module electronically communicates (i) with processors to processes feature interpreter information, stored information since a last borescope inspection, and (ii) accumulator information to processors, such information defines an accumulated probability of a FOD event; and predictor and inspection planner module electronically communicates (i) with processors to processes accumulator information and stored information defines a threshold limits for a probability of a FOD event, and (ii) predictor and inspection planner information to processors, such information identifies a timeframe for a next borescope inspections predicted to occur before a FOD event.
Method and system for cooling down a gas turbine
A method for cooling down a gas turbine, wherein the gas turbine is run down from the power operation thereof to cool-down operation, and wherein a liquid is sprayed into air sucked in by a compressor of the gas turbine during the cool-down operation, and wherein the liquid is sprayed into the sucked-in air in dependence on a humidity of the sucked-in air, a flow velocity of cooling air flowing in the gas turbine in the region of at least one flow-guiding component of the gas turbine, which component is to be cooled, and a temperature difference between a temperature of the sucked-in air and a temperature of the at least one flow-guiding component of the gas turbine.
METHOD OF RUNNING AN AIR INLET SYSTEM
The present embodiments disclose a method of running an air inlet system upstream of one or more inlet air filters of a device protected by air filtration, wherein the method comprises: regulating the relative air humidity of the inlet air at the one or more inlet air filters in dependence of the inlet air filters differential pressure.
System and Method for Regulating Flow in Turbomachines
The present disclosure is directed to a system for regulating a flow of air into a turbomachine. The system includes an inlet section of the turbomachine and a damper having an actuator and a restriction. The damper is positioned within the inlet section and operable to regulate the flow of air into the turbomachine based on a position of the restriction. The system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the damper. The controller is configured to control the position of the restriction to regulate the flow of air into the turbomachine based on a current operating condition of the turbomachine.
Enhancing engine performance to improve fuel consumption based on atmospheric ice particles
Systems and methods for enhancing engine performance based on atmospheric ice particles are provided. For example, a method can include selecting one or more points along a flight path of an aircraft and receiving a reflectivity measurement for each of the one or more points obtained using a device located on the aircraft. The method can further include determining an estimate of ice water content for each of the one or more points based at least in part on the reflectivity measurements; and controlling at least one component of the aircraft engine (e.g., a variable bleed valve) based at least in part on the estimate of ice water content for at least one of the plurality of points.
