Outer airseal abradable rub strip
A blade outer airseal has a body comprising: an inner diameter (ID) surface; an outer diameter (OD) surface; a leading end; and a trailing end. The airseal body has a metallic substrate and a coating system atop the substrate along at least a portion of the inner diameter surface. At least over a first area of the inner diameter surface, the coating system comprises an abradable layer comprising a metallic matrix and a solid lubricant; and the metallic matrix comprises, by weight, 35% copper, 30.0-45.0% combined nickel, cobalt, and iron with combined iron and cobalt content at most one-third of the nickel content, 2.0-8.0% aluminum, and 5.0-15.0% chromium.
Abrasive blade tips with additive resistant to clogging by organic matrix abradable
An abrasive tip comprises an additive, the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of an organic component from an abradable seal onto an abrasive blade tip.
SHAFT FACE SEAL
A sealing arrangement for a shaft according to an example of the present disclosure includes a shaft and a sealing assembly. The sealing assembly includes a seal cartridge that has at least one sealing element. The first and second mating rings are configured to axially locate the seal cartridge with respect to the shaft. The second mating ring includes at least one tang that is configured to extend through at least one corresponding slot in the shaft, the at least one tang is configured to engage a retaining ring to axially retain the second mating ring on the shaft. A gearbox/accessory interface assembly and a method of sealing a gearbox with respect to an accessory are also disclosed.
Bearing element and turbomachine with a bearing element
A bearing element for at least one adjustable guide vane of a turbomachine, in particular an aircraft engine, is provided. The bearing element comprising a porous matrix made of carbon and/or graphite and at least one metallic phase or a metal salt that is at least partially arranged inside the pores of the matrix, so that what results is a metal-infiltrated or a metal-salt-infiltrated material.
TURBINE BLADES AND VANES FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A gas turbine engine is provided and includes a first rotating component having a first snap surface and a second rotating component having a second snap surface. The first and second snap surfaces are configured to interlock along an interface and at least one of the first and second snap surfaces comprising a tailored-friction material at the interface.
Piston seal ring
A split ring seal has: a first circumferential end and a second circumferential end; an inner diameter surface and an outer diameter surface; a first axial end face and a second axial end face. A circumferentially distributed first plurality of open channels are along the first axial end face. A circumferentially distributed second plurality of open channels are along the second axial end face.
Self-lubricating blade root/disk interface
A coating for a blade root/disk interface includes a layer of soft metal matrix, and a solid lubricant distributed through the soft metal matrix. Examples of materials include CuAl as the soft metal matrix and MoS.sub.2 as the solid lubricant, although others are also disclosed.
Simplified mechanism for a scotch yoke actuator
An actuator converts linear motion into rotational motion. The actuator includes a power piston having a longitudinal axis. The power piston is configured to move back and forth along the longitudinal axis. A slider bearing is disposed within a cross-bore opening in the power piston. The cross-bore opening has a slider bearing axis orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The slider bearing is configured to move back and forth within the cross-bore opening. An output shaft has a central axis orthogonal to both the longitudinal and the slider bearing axes. The output shaft includes an eccentric shaft pin inserted through a slot in the power piston and disposed within a cavity of the slider bearing. The eccentric shaft pin is offset from the central axis of the output shaft. The reciprocating movement of the power piston causes the slider bearing to move back and forth rotating the output shaft.
Abrasive blade tips with additive resistant to clogging by organic matrix abradable
A method of applying an additive to an abrasive coated blade tip comprises applying the additive to the abrasive coated blade tip and wicking the additive into the abrasive coated blade tip, wherein the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of an organic component of an abradable seal onto the abrasive coated blade tip.
COMPRESSOR ABRADABLE SEAL WITH IMPROVED SOLID LUBRICANT RETENTION
An air seal in a gas turbine engine includes a substrate. A bond coating layer is adhered to the substrate. An abradable layer is adhered to the bond coating layer. The abradable layer comprises a metal matrix discontinuously filled with a lubricious oxide solid lubricant filler.
