A method of manufacturing a component for a gas turbine engine includes applying a thermoplastic polymer sheet over a composite body for the component; applying a shield over part of the composite body, the shield terminating at an end which overlies the thermoplastic polymer sheet and defines an interface between shielded and unshielded regions of the component; and pressing the shield into the thermoplastic polymer sheet so that the thermoplastic polymer sheet deforms around the end of the shield, such that the exterior profile of the component at the interface between the shielded and unshielded regions is flush.

Pump housing with an interior for accommodating a pump rotor

In a pump housing having an interior for accommodating a pump rotor, which may be transferred from a radially compressed state into a radially expanded state, and comprises a housing skin revolving in circumferential direction, as well as at least one reinforcement element, a stretch-resistant element revolving in circumferential direction is provided, which is stretched less than 5% in the expanded state as opposed to the force-free state in circumferential direction, and which limits any further expansion of the pump housing in radial direction.

Casing made of composite material with local variation of thickness

A gas turbine fan casing made of composite material with a fibrous reinforcement includes a plurality of superimposed turns of a strip-shaped fibrous texture having a three-dimensional weaving between a plurality of layers of warp yarns and a plurality of layers of weft yarns, the fibrous reinforcement being densified by a matrix. The fibrous texture includes at least one lateral section of variable thickness in which the weft yarns have a size or a count different from the size or the count of the weft yarns of the plurality of layers of weft yarns present in the remainder of the fibrous texture.

AIRFOIL ASSEMBLY WITH FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITE RINGS AND TOOTHED EXIT SLOT
20230020644 · 2023-01-19 ·

An airfoil assembly includes first and second fiber-reinforced composite airfoil rings that each have inner and outer platform sections, a suction side wall extending between the inner and outer platforms, a pressure side wall extending between the inner and outer platforms, and suction and pressure side mate faces along, respectively, edges of the suction and pressure side walls. The suction side mate face of the first fiber-reinforced composite airfoil ring and the pressure side mate face of the second fiber-reinforced composite airfoil ring mate at an interface to form an airfoil that circumscribes an internal cavity. A least one of the suction or pressure side mate faces includes protrusions along a trailing edge of the airfoil. The protrusions define a toothed exit slot for emitting cooling air from the internal cavity.

A method for producing a thin-walled metal part with complex geometry includes mixing a metal powder with a polymer binder in order to obtain a composite mixture, producing a flexible composite sheet from the composite mixture, cutting, in the flexible composite sheet, a preform based on a contour of the metal part, applying the preform in a mold having a surface configured with a relief of the metal part, and debinding and sintering the preform in order to obtain the metal part.

METHOD FOR CLOSING AN INJECTION-MOULDING MOULD USING ANTI-NIP TAPES

A method for closing an injection mold for manufacturing a revolution part made of composite material, the mold including a mandrel supporting a fiber preform and angular sectors comprising an annular base to come into contact with the fiber texture, the annular base extending between first and second side edges along a circumferential direction. The method includes successive positioning and fixing the angular sectors on the mandrel, the annular base of each sector compacting the fiber preform portion present oppositely, the side edges of the annular base of each angular sector being in contact with the side edges of the annular base of the adjacent sectors. Before the positioning and fixing of the angular sectors on the mandrel, strip s are placed on the exposed surface of the fiber preform, each strip covering an area of the fiber preform located facing a junction area between two adjacent angular sectors.
