DESIGN METHOD OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE NICKEL-BASED BOLTS BASED ON DAMAGE TOLERANCE THEORY
20170315036 · 2017-11-02 ·

The invention relates to a design method of high-temperature nickel-based bolts based on damage tolerance theory, comprising the following steps: S.sub.1: acquiring operating parameters for the design; S.sub.2: selecting a material for bolts; S.sub.3: acquiring mechanical properties of the materials; S.sub.4: determining a pretension stress σ.sub.p of a single bolt; S.sub.5: determining the service stress σ.sub.s under the steady state; S.sub.6: determining the number n, the effective cross-section area A and the distribution of bolts; S.sub.7: determining a maximum allowable crack dimension; S.sub.8: calculating the maximum allowable service stress σ.sub.th using the crack propagation threshold K.sub.th at the design temperature; S.sub.9: comparing the service stress σ.sub.s and the maximum allowable service stress σ.sub.th, if σ.sub.s is smaller than σ.sub.th, then the bolts are safe in the design life; otherwise, return to step S.sub.4 and reduce the pretension stress σ.sub.p.

DOUBLE THREADED STANDOFF FASTENER

Presently disclosed is a standoff fastener for use in a compound floor structure. The threaded fastener includes a threaded standoff portion designed to accept a nut which has a diameter larger than a head portion of the standoff fastener. The head portion is located centrally within the fastener in order to reduce a tendency of the fastener to pivot within a driver during the fastening process.

A device for assembling together at a determined orientation a sensor (3) with a thread (6) and a support (2) having a tapped hole (12), the device including a first threaded portion (9) adapted to co-operate with the thread (6) of the sensor and a second threaded portion (11), of pitch different from the pitch of the first threaded portion, and suitable for co-operating with the tapped hole (12) of the support. The device also includes a washer (14) presenting on one side a bearing face (15) for bearing against the sensor, and on its other side, a contact face (16) for contacting the support, the washer (14) being provided with a through bore (25) for mounting the assembly element, the washer and the element being mounted together by an assembly system (30) connecting them together in rotation about the longitudinal axis, while leaving them free to move in translation.

Screw boss assemblies and methods

Systems and methods for providing screw bosses on a substrate. The substrate can be dimpled. The dimples can then be threaded to accept screw bosses. The dimples can be threaded using a threading die or can have threads cut by self-tapping screw bosses. An adhesive can be applied to the substrate, the bottom of the screw boss, or both. The screw bosses can include standoffs to determine the distance between the bottom of the screw boss and the substrate. The screw bosses can be threaded onto the dimples and can provide threads for attaching items to the substrate. A filler material can be applied to the reverse side of the substrate to fill-in the dimples and present a smooth surface. A decorative or protective layer can be applied over the filler material.
