Riveted joint and method of forming the same

A riveted joint is described herein. The riveted joint includes a first component and a second component. The first component includes a first opening, and a plurality of first tabs and a plurality of first notches defined along a periphery of the first opening. The second component includes a second opening aligned with the first opening. The second component further includes a plurality of second tabs defined along a periphery of the second opening, wherein at least one second tab is aligned with at least one first notch to define an interlock zone when the first and second components are in a predetermined orientation relative to each other. The joint also includes a rivet extending through the first and second openings. The rivet is configured to secure the at least one second tab within the at least one first notch such that the first and second components are rotationally interlocked.

A convex portion projecting from a plate member includes a base, a convex body, and a guide. The base is part of the plate member. The convex body erects in a cylindrical shape from the base. The guide is at a top end of the convex body. The base includes a first inner circumferential surface, a second inner circumferential surface, and a third inner circumferential surface. The first inner circumferential surface is continuous with an inner circumferential surface of the convex body and extends in a direction opposite to an erecting direction of the convex body. The second inner circumferential surface is continuous with the first inner circumferential surface and intersects the erecting direction of the convex body. The third inner circumferential surface is continuous with the second inner circumferential surface and is larger in diameter than the first inner circumferential surface.

Combined sheets and a method of producing combined sheets. A combined sheet includes a main sheet including a first main indentation feature providing a first overhang over a first portion of the main sheet and a second main indentation feature providing a second overhang over a second portion of the main sheet. The combined sheet also includes a foundation sheet abutting the main sheet. The foundation sheet includes a first foundation indentation feature crimped to the first main indentation feature and a second foundation indentation feature crimped to the second main indentation feature. The first overhang and the second overhang provides overhangs in different directions to prohibit separation of the foundation sheet from the main sheet. The method of producing the combined sheet includes co-locating the main sheet to abut the foundation sheet and pressing one or more indentation punches for forming indentation features providing overhangs in different directions.

Adaptor for securing objects to each other

An adaptor for securing a second object includes an anchoring part and an adjustment part, wherein the anchoring part includes a distally facing anchoring surface and a proximally facing first control surface. The adjustment part has a distally facing second control surface positioned to abut against the first control surface. The anchoring part and the adjustment part define a common axis that is not perpendicular to the z direction, wherein the first control surface and possibly also the second control surface is/are helical with respect to the axis. Thereby a relative z position of the adjustment part with respect to the anchoring part is defined by the relative orientation of the adjustment part with respect to the common axis while the second control surface abuts against the first control surface.

Upset protrusion joining and forging gun therefor

An upset protrusion joining gun for joining two parts together by forging a protrusion of one part that extends through an opening in the other part to form a boss that extends over a portion of the other part surrounding the opening.

SHELL WITH EXPANDABLE BUBBLE AND TOOLING THEREFOR

A shell including a central panel with an expandable bubble disposed thereon is provided. The use of an expandable bubble allows for an expandable rivet button and thereafter an expandable rivet that has an enhanced overlap of a tab body. Such an expandable rivet allows for the use of a metal sheet with a thinner base thickness.

RIVET STRUCTURE

A rivet structure includes a female rivet plate and a male rivet plate. The female rivet plate defines an elongated countersunk hole. A size of the countersunk hole increases from a first side of the female rivet plate to a second side of the female rivet plate. The male rivet plate includes a rivet including a shaft portion and two head portions. The shaft portion extends from the male rivet plate. The two head portions are respectively arranged on opposite sides of the shaft portion on a side of the shaft portion facing away from the male rivet plate. The two head portions extend through the countersunk hole from the first side of the female rivet plate to the second side of the female rivet plate. The two head portions are configured to be stamped by a stamping member to fill in the countersunk hole.

RIVET CONNECTION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A RIVET CONNECTION

A rivet connection has a hollow rivet composed of plastics material and connects a first component to a second component. The first component has a first surface and the second component has a second and third surface. The first surface and the second surface bear on one another. The second component has a first opening between the second and the third surface. The hollow rivet has a tubular component having a lateral wall, a cavity, a first end and a second end. Part of the tubular component is disposed in the first opening of the second component. The second end of the tubular component protrudes beyond the second component. The lateral wall of the tubular component adjacent the first opening of the second component is heated and compressed and configures an outwardly bulging region. Part of the outwardly bulging region contacts the third surface of the second component.

Riveting structure and riveting method

A riveting structure and a riveting method are provided. The riveting structure includes a first metal element and a second metal element. The first metal element includes a first upper surface, a pressure-receiving portion and a recess portion. The recess portion is recessed from the first upper surface. The pressure-receiving portion is protruded from a surface of the recess portion. The second metal element includes a second lower surface and a protrusion portion and has a through hole. The protrusion portion is protruded from the second lower surface and correspondingly disposed in the recess portion. The through hole penetrates the second metal element via a central part of the protrusion portion. The pressure-receiving portion is correspondingly received in the through hole and is adapted to be pressed and deformed to be riveted to the through hole.
