BONDING OBJECTS TOGETHER
The relates to a method of mechanically securing a first object to a second object and includes the steps of: providing the first object including thermoplastic material in a solid state, providing the second object with a generally flat sheet portion having an edge, positioning the first object relative to the second object and bringing the first object and the second object to a relative movement to each other. The relative movement includes a rotational movement, such that a melting zone including flowable thermoplastic material is formed and such that thermoplastic material of the melting zone flows around the edge to at least partially embed the edge in the thermoplastic material. The invention further concerns a connector that is suitable for being used in a method according to the invention.
Upholstered furniture component connection system
An upholstered component, such as panels, assembled onto a furniture frame or a chair mechanism by way of a connection system provides a robust connection and economical manufacturing process. The connection includes a T-nut and a spacer attached on opposite sides of a wood form to be upholstered. The threaded barrel of the T-nut inserted in a hole through the wood form and with T-nut prongs embedding into a surface of the side of the wood form that will be facing outwardly on the furniture. The spacer is inserted into the hole at the opposite side of the wood form and is retained therein by an interference fit. The wood form is upholstered and is then attached to the furniture frame or mechanism with a bolt connecting to the furniture frame or mechanism and then extending through the spacer, into the hole and into the threaded barrel of the T-nut.
Bonded nutplate rapid cure system
Systems for positioning and bonding a nutplate to a substrate having an aperture include a nutplate engagement fixture and a temperature sensor retention fixture. The nutplate engagement fixture includes a rigid tube and an elastomeric tube engaged with the rigid tube, the elastomeric tube having an elongated tube sized to provide a friction fit with the aperture and retain the elastomeric tube within the aperture. The rigid tube is operable to engage the nutplate at one end and the elastomeric tube is configured to anchor the nutplate engagement fixture at the aperture and secure the nutplate in contact with the substrate. The temperature sensor retention fixture includes a fixture body sized and configured to engage with the nutplate and at least one passageway within the fixture body sized and configured to allow a temperature sensor to be inserted or embedded therein with an end proximal a surface of the nutplate.
Fastening element with a non-permeable adhesive ring
A method for attaching a fastening element to a surface includes arranging a basic body in contact with the surface using an adhesive ring. The surface, the adhesive ring, and a gap therebetween form airtight barriers of a space. The basic body has at least one air- and/or water-permeable connection between the space and an outer side of the basic body. An adhesive is introduced into the space so that it is filled with a quantity of adhesive which has a contact surface with the basic body. A curing process for the adhesive provides moisture, wherein prior to the curing process or/and during the curing process, the adhesive ring and the quantity of adhesive are heated so that some of the adhesive located in the region of the contact surface forms an insulating layer which is cured over and beyond the contact surface and constitutes a further airtight barrier for the remaining quantity of adhesive which has not cured.
Insert and system for providing a calibrated metering orifice
An insert for connecting first and second parts each having holes, the insert having a cylindrical sleeve and a core. The cylindrical sleeve having a central void and an outer diameter sized to fit into the hole in the first part. The central void having a uniform diameter across a length of the cylindrical sleeve. The core having a through-hole and a tapered outer wall such that when the core is pulled into the cylindrical sleeve, the cylindrical sleeve expands against the hole of the first part to secure the insert to the first part. The through-hole of the core having a threaded portion at a first end of the core to engage with a threaded fastener to secure the second part to the first part. The first end of the core is press-fit into the cylindrical sleeve.
FASTENING ASSEMBLY INCLUDING A NUT HOLDER AND A FASTENING PLATE FASTENED TO A SUBSTRATE
A fastening assembly suitable for being fastened to a substrate with a front face and a first hole. The fastening assembly includes a fastening plate with a second plate with front and rear faces and pierced with a second hole aligned with the first hole. The fastening plate front face is fastened to the substrate rear face. The assembly includes a nut holder with a third plate with front and rear faces and pierced with a third hole aligned with the second hole and a nut fastened to the third plate on the side of the rear face and coaxial with the third hole. The front face of the nut holder is fastened to the rear face of the fastening plate. The fastening plate includes a first fastener that engages with a second fastener of the nut holder to removably fasten the nut holder to the fastening plate.
Strut and method of forming strut
A method of forming a strut includes providing a ring with a threaded section, coupling a mandrel to the ring, and electroforming a metallic layer over the mandrel and ring. The strut can include an integral monolithic body.
Stud
The present disclosure relates to a stud improved to prevent loosening of the stud press-fitted into a sheet metal by increasing a resistance force against a torque. The stud includes a body provided to be inserted into a stud mounting hole formed on the sheet metal and formed with a screw thread to which a screw is fastened therein, a flange provided on one side of the body to have a larger diameter than the stud mounting hole and press-fitted into the sheet metal, and a rotation preventer protruding from the flange to have a diameter larger than the stud mounting hole and smaller than the flange and press-fitted into the sheet metal to prevent rotation of the stud, wherein the rotation preventer includes a plurality of rotation preventing protrusions having asymmetric shapes, and each of the plurality of rotation preventing protrusions includes a rotation preventing surface provided to be perpendicular to a tangent line of a circle connecting ends of the plurality of rotation preventing protrusions.
SEMIFINISHED PRODUCT FOR PRODUCING A FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITE ELEMENT HAVING A FASTENING HOLE OR A FASTENING PROTRUSION, COMPOSITE ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A COMPOSITE ELEMENT
The invention relates to a composite element having fibers embedded in a hardened resin and an insert piece likewise embedded in the resin, which insert piece has a head and a tip. A pin is provided between the head and the tip, the pin extending along a longitudinal axis extending from the head to the tip, wherein a fastening hole is defined by the head, and/or a fastening protrusion extends from the head. A recess defined by the pin, at which recess is presented a holding surface facing the head and forming an angle with the longitudinal axis of >0 and <180.
