BEARING ASSEMBLY FOR A THRUST BEARING

A bearing assembly for a turbo-engine with a bearing and parts of a bearing temperature detecting device. The bearing includes a main body having a thermoplastic bearing layer. A space is defined in the interior of the main body and of the thermoplastic bearing layer for accommodating parts of the bearing temperature detecting device. The space has a through hole having a first opening in the thermoplastic bearing layer and a second opening located in the main body. The parts include a temperature conducting element, a temperature sensor, and a securing fixture that attaches the temperature conducting element. The first opening of the through hole has a chamfer and the first end of temperature conducting element has a head which is correspondingly shaped to the chamfer in a form fitting manner. The center-axis of the temperature sensor extends transversely to the center-axis of the temperature conducting element.

BEARING ARRANGEMENTS FOR A DISCONNECTABLE WHEEL ASSEMBLY

A wheel bearing arrangement for a disconnectable wheel assembly which includes a drive shaft that is adapted to be drivingly engaged with or disengaged from a wheel supporting flange and an assembly method are provided. The arrangement includes first and second deep groove ball bearings located between the shaft and the flange. The first inner ring of the first bearing is axially positioned by a shaft shoulder on the shaft and the first outer ring is axially positioned by a first flange shoulder on the flange. The second outer ring of the second bearing has an interference fit with the flange in a radial direction. For some options, a spacer axially separates the first and second inner rings. A nut is engaged to an end of the shaft and clamps the second inner ring, the spacer, and the first inner ring to the shaft shoulder. Alternate arrangements are also provided.

BEARING ASSEMBLY HAVING A SHAFT, A FIRST BEARING, AND A NUT

A bearing assembly includes a shaft, a first bearing, and a nut. The nut has a thread, which is screwed onto a threaded region formed on the shaft, and a bearing seat formed on the shaft adjoins the threaded region. The inner ring of the first bearing contacts the bearing seat, and the nut contacts the inner ring of the first bearing. The inner ring of the first bearing is arranged spaced apart from the threaded region of the shaft. A runout region of a thread cut into the threaded region of the shaft is arranged in a subsection of the bearing seat adjoining the threaded region.

A wheel bearing device has a vehicle-body-mounting flange 5b with a plurality of ears 10 discontinuously formed in a circumferential direction on an outer circumferential surface of the outer member 5. An outer circumferential surface 11 on the outer side of the outer member is tapered and formed such that a diameter of the outer member gradually decreases in a direction to an outer side. Ridges 16 protrude from a fitting surface 12 toward the outside in a radial direction. The ridges 16 are formed between the plurality of ears 10. The ridges 16 are forged to smoothly connect to the outer circumferential surfaces of the plurality of ears 10. Ribs 15 are forged on inner-side outer circumferential surfaces of the plurality of ears 10.

Systems and methods for preloading a bearing and aligning a lock nut
09850943 · 2017-12-26 · ·

A method of adjusting preload on a bearing assembly of a wheel mounted on an axle or spindle with a lock nut includes mounting a preload adjustment tool onto a threaded axle or spindle. The load on the bearing assembly is increased using the tool. The wheel on the axle or spindle is rotated to set the bearing assembly. The load on the bearing assembly is decreased to a desired maximum preload on the bearing. After decreasing the load on the bearing assembly to a desired maximum preload, the lock nut is tightened by hand until the lock nut cannot be further tightened. The lock nut is loosened by rotating the lock nut to a preferred location where a guide mark on the tool aligns with one mark on the lock nut located closest to the guide mark wherein a resultant preload on the bearing assembly is within a preset range from the desired maximum preload.

Bearing assembly

A bearing assembly includes a roller bearing connected with a bearing support having a plate-shaped section. The bearing support has a receiving bore for an outer ring of the roller bearing, and the outer ring of the roller bearing is affixed to the bearing support with two affixing plates that are fixed to first and second end sides of the bearing support and that clamp the outer ring at two clamping surfaces. An axial spacing of the first and second end sides of the bearing support is smaller than an axial spacing of the clamping surfaces of the outer ring, and the two affixing plates have a different mechanical strength.
