DISC BRAKE ASSEMBLY
A disc brake assembly is provided that includes a camshaft extending from a slack adjuster. A disc brake rotor and a brake caliper bridge having an outer plate and an inner plate are provided. A brake caliper carrier is provided with an outer brake pad contained by the brake caliper carrier and an inner brake pad contained by the brake caliper carrier. A cam carrier having two openings is provided along with a pusher plate having a first surface in contact with the cam and a second surface in contact with the inner brake pad. A first and a second slide pin each extend through an opening in the cam carrier and an opening in the pusher plate and an opening in the inner plate of the brake caliper bridge and into the brake caliper carrier. A cam is mounted onto the camshaft such that rotation of the camshaft will rotate the cam, and the brake caliper bridge inner plate having a surface in contact with the cam. The brake caliper bridge outer plate having a surface in contact with the outer brake pad, such that upon rotation of the camshaft and the cam, the pusher plate adjusts the axial position of the inner brake pad and the brake caliper bridge outer plate adjusts the axial position of the outer brake pad, actuating the brake.
Brake cylinder
A brake cylinder for an air-operated brake, in particular for commercial vehicles, has a housing including a front cover (11), wherein the front cover (11) is provided with a cylindrical lateral surface (16) and with a base wall (18) adjoining the lateral surface (16). The base wall (18) is provided with an elevated portion (19) having a central bore or middle opening (23) for a cylinder plunger. The front cover (11) is provided with a rib (46). The rib (46) extends on the base wall (18) in addition to the elevated portion (19).
TRUCK MOUNTED BRAKING SYSTEM FOR A RAILWAY CAR
A truck mounted braking system is provided with a mechanical pivot adjustment on the bake lever connected to the brake cylinder push rod to permit the braking force applied to the wheels to vary depending on the lading condition of the car, without involving additional pneumatic elements such as a pneumatic empty load device. The brake cylinder may be provided with a channel which permits the push rod to achieve different positions based on different positions of the brake cylinder push rod.
Disc Brake
A disc brake, in which a force-redirecting device is arranged between an actuator and the brake caliper for transmitting an input force from the actuator to a brake caliper of the brake actuation mechanism.
BRAKE ARRANGEMENT COMPRISING HYBRID BRAKE ACTUATORS
A brake arrangement including hybrid brake actuators includes pneumatic and electric brake actuators, and is designed to overcome pneumatic failures by electrical brake actuators. The pneumatic can thus be lightened and less energy consuming. In particular, only one compressed air tank can be used for all the axles.
Wedge actuated drum-in-hat parking brake
An actuator for use in a drum-in-hat parking brake includes a wedge. A pair of tappets oppositely disposed from each other such that a tappet is positioned adjacent opposite sides of the wedge is included and a bearing is positioned between the wedge and an adjacent tappet. The bearing rolls along and between the wedge and the adjacent tappet and forces the pair of tappets apart from each other when the wedge moves relative to the pair of tappets. Movement of the pair of tappets away from each is used to force a pair of brake shoes into contact with a brake drum and provide a desired braking force on a brake drum.
Spring brake chamber
A spring brake chamber includes a first case, a second case, and a coupling case. The first case includes an open end, a closed end, and an open end portion. The open end portion of the first case includes a tapered outer positioning portion having a diameter that increases toward the open end. The coupling case couples the first case and the second case. The coupling case includes an open end closer to the first case and an open end portion. The open end portion of the coupling case includes a tapered inner positioning portion having a diameter that decreases toward the open end. The first case is positioned relative to the coupling case by attaching the outer positioning portion to an outer side of the inner positioning portion.
DISC BRAKE APPARATUS
A caliper body (12) of a disc brake apparatus (10) includes an accommodating portion (14a) which accommodates a piston (20) for pressing a brake pad (66), a cam lever (42) for generating a pressing force through rotation, and a pressing force transmission mechanism (24) which is interposed between the piston (20) and the cam lever (42) to transmit a pressing force to the piston (20). The accommodating portion (14a) has an opening portion through which the piston (20), the cam lever (42) and the pressing force transmission mechanism (24) can be assembled into the caliper body (12) from a thick back side thereof, and both the accommodating portion (14a) and the opening portion are opened to a rotor disposition side area in the caliper body (12).
ABS STRATEGY FOR HYBRID BRAKE ACTUATORS
A method of managing the braking force applied on the wheels of a vehicle including hybrid brake actuators is provided. In particular, safety functions, such as ABS and ESP are performed using hybrid actuators.
