Hybrid powertrain
A hybrid powertrain includes an internal combustion engine and a multi-speed transmission coupled to the internal combustion engine. The multi-speed transmission includes an input member, an output member, and a first, second, third, fourth, and fifth planetary gear set each having a sun gear member, a planet carrier assembly member and a ring gear member. The multi-speed transmission further includes a first, second, third, fourth, and fifth planetary gear sets each having a sun gear member, a planet carrier assembly member and a ring gear member. The multi-speed transmission further includes seven torque-transmitting devices configured to selectively interconnect the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth planetary gear sets with one another in combinations of at least four to establish at least ten forward speed ratios and at least one reverse speed ratio between the input member and the output member.

There is provided a transmission control device capable to switching a switching mechanism quickly. A transmission control device ECU controls an automatic transmission (3) and can receive information about a slope from a front and rear G sensor. The automatic transmission (3) includes a two-way clutch (F1) as a switching mechanism that is switchable between a reverse rotation prevention state in which forward rotation of a rotatable carrier (Cb) (eleventh element) is allowed and reverse rotation is prevented and a fixed state in which rotation of the element is prevented. When the range is switched to a parking range and a vehicle is not stopped on a slope, the transmission control device ECU switches the two-way clutch (F1) to the fixed state.

A transmission apparatus and associated methods for a transportation system. The transmission apparatus includes a clutch assembly and a planetary gear assembly. The clutch assembly includes a clutch hub, a first clutch sleeve, and a second clutch sleeve. The first clutch sleeve is axially movable relative to the clutch hub to selectively engage a first component of a planetary gear assembly. The second clutch sleeve is axially movable relative to the clutch hub to selectively engage a second component of the planetary gear assembly. The planetary gear assembly includes a plurality of planet gears and a planet carrier. Each of the plurality of planet gears is supported in a rotatable manner by the planet carrier. In some embodiments, the first component of the planetary gear assembly is a first sun gear that engages each of the plurality of planet gears.

An automatic torque transmission with one or more stages, where each stage has a number of available gear ratios. There is a planetary gear train comprising a planet gear on a planet gear carrier, a sun gear, and a ring gear, wherein an input to the planetary gear train is through the planet gear carrier, and wherein the planet gear is configured to drive the sun gear at higher speed and lower torque, and the ring gear at lower speed and higher torque. There is a first differential gear train having a first input side, a second input side, and an output, wherein the sun gear is coupled to the first input side of the first differential gear train and the ring gear is coupled to the second input side of the first differential gear train, thereby combining two inputs into a single output. A brake clutch is configured to be selectively coupled to the ring gear, to provide selective braking of the ring gear so as to selectively transfer drive from the ring gear to the sun gear. A one-way clutch is configured to be selectively engaged or disengaged from the sun gear, to selectively prevent rotation of the sun gear in one direction. The output of the differential gear train is coupled to either another stage of the transmission or to an output differential gear train. The output differential gear train is configured to be locked for forward drive or coupled to a housing for reverse drive. With the one-way clutch disengaged the sun gear will freewheel by rotating in reverse, with no output.
