A control apparatus for a vehicle makes the vehicle travel without depending on operation of a shift operation apparatus by a driver, even in a case where a detection abnormality by which a shift operation position of the shift operation apparatus becomes indefinite has occurred.

Control apparatus for vehicle drive-force transmitting apparatus

A control apparatus for a vehicle drive-force transmitting apparatus including a gear mechanism and a continuously-variable transmission mechanism and defining first and second drive-force transmitting paths. When the continuously-variable transmission mechanism is in a failure state in which an actual gear ratio of the continuously-variable transmission mechanism is not the highest gear ratio as a target gear ratio, the control apparatus sets the target gear ratio to a transient target gear ratio that is gradually changed toward the highest gear ratio, for causing the actual gear ratio to be gradually changed toward the highest gear ratio. A rate of change of the transient target gear ratio is higher in a state in which a drive force is transmitted through the first drive-force transmitting path by the gear mechanism, than in a state in which the drive force is transmitted through the second drive-force transmitting path by the continuously-variable transmission mechanism.

Back-up power source device and back-up system

A back-up control unit of a back-up power source device executes: a battery failure determination process of determining whether or not a battery failure has been detected by a failure detecting unit; when it is determined that battery failure has been detected in the battery failure determination process, a switching instruction determination process for determining, on the basis of an instruction signal from a monitor circuit, whether or not an instruction to switch to a P range has been made by a user; and when it is determined that a switching instruction has been made in the switching instruction determination process, a shifting instruction process for starting power supply from a back-up power source to a shift control unit and instructing the shift control unit to shift to the P range.

Method of controlling transmission range in response to a loss of communication with an engine and system thereof

A method of controlling a multispeed transmission includes providing a transmission controller, a plurality of ranges of the transmission of which at least one of the plurality of ranges is defined as a limiting range, and a communication link. The transmission is operated in a first range of the plurality of ranges and the method includes detecting a loss of communication over the communication link between the transmission controller and another controller. The method also includes determining if the first range is defined as the limiting range when communication is lost and commanding a shift from the first range to a second range of the plurality of ranges which is not defined as the limiting range. The method further includes controlling the shift from the first range to the second range.

A transmission control apparatus for controlling a vehicle's transmission. The apparatus includes (i) a control motor mechanically connected to the transmission's selector drum and is actuable to rotate the selector drum, (ii) a torque sensor which senses torque applied to the selector drum by the control motor, (iii) a controller configured to control the control motor based on signals received from the torque sensor to control the engagement/disengagement of the dog clutches; and (iv) a cam indexer connected to the selector drum. The cam indexer includes (i) a cam sprocket having one gear detent corresponding to each of gear engagement position of the selector drum, and one neutral detent corresponding to each neutral position of the selector drum, and (ii) a cam follower that engages with the gear detents and biases the selector drum into either a corresponding gear engagement position or a corresponding neutral position.
