Metal Bellows for Downhole Use
A metal bellows for downhole use includes: a bellows capsule with a first end and a second end; an inner diameter side and an outer diameter side arranged between the first end and the second end; where the bellows capsule comprises a first bellows convolution and second bellows convolution and optionally additional bellows convolutions; and each bellows convolution comprises: a root on the inner diameter side of the bellows capsule; a first sidewall extending from the root toward the outer diameter side of the bellows capsule with a first connection point at the distal end; a second sidewall extending from the root toward the outer diameter side of the bellows capsule with a second connection point at the distal end and wherein the second sidewall is on the opposite side of the root as the first sidewall; wherein: the bellows convolutions are formed as a single piece; and the second sidewall connection point of the first bellows convolution is permanently affixed to the first sidewall connection point of the second bellows convolution.
Flexible seal for gas turbine engine
A coupling adapted for use with a gas turbine engine includes a first flange, a second flange, and a seal assembly. The first flange is coupled with an exhaust end of the gas turbine engine. The second flange is coupled with ducting downstream of the gas turbine engine. The seal assembly extends between the first flange and the second flange and is configured to block the gases from passing radially between the first flange and the second flange.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE HERMETIC SEALING OF MARTENSITIC METALS FOR PRECOMPRESSION FOR CRYOGENIC APPLICATIONS
Disclosed is a hermetically sealed assembly for precompression of a martinsetic metal for use in negative pressure energy transfer systems, and method of making same. The assembly comprising a martinsetic metal disposed between and in contact with flanged sapphire windows, the flanges defining an open area therebetween to accommodate expansion and contraction of the martinsetic metal. Hermetic sealing means include a bellows element, which can comprise a convoluted cross section, at the periphery of the assembly to enable operation over temperature ranges from ambient to cryogenic without loss of integrity or leakage.
EXPANDABLE TURRET FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
A rupture reduction system for fluid-immersed electrical equipment includes a turret for mounting of a bushing. The turret is expandable in volume in response to a surge in pressure of the fluid in the turret. The expansion volume can be provided by an expandable section of the turret, which may include a bellows.
Methods and apparatus for sealing of metals
Disclosed is a hermetically sealed assembly for precompression of a martinsetic metal for use in negative pressure energy transfer systems, and method of making same. The assembly comprising a martinsetic metal disposed between and in contact with sapphire windows. The assembly has an internal channel to accommodate expansion and contraction of the martinsetic metal. Hermetic sealing means including in different embodiments positive pressure fasteners and a bellows element are used at the periphery of the assembly to enable operation over temperature ranges from ambient to cryogenic without loss of integrity or leakage.
Actuator having an internal conductive path
An actuator includes a piston and a housing. The piston includes a piston shaft that is configured to reciprocate within a chamber of the housing. The actuator includes a gland electrically coupled to the housing. The gland forms at least a portion of a first end of the chamber. The actuator also includes a first conductor positioned in the chamber. The first conductor is coupled to the gland and to a first side of the piston to electrically couple the piston to the housing.
Bellows
A bellows excellent in durability has an accordion shape where crest parts with U-shaped cross sections and trough parts with U-shaped cross sections are repeatedly formed via slope parts, the slope parts leading to the crest part includes first portions, second portions, third portions and fourth portions which are continuously connected, in order, to one another from the crest part toward the adjacent trough parts, and in a free length state of the bellows, a separation distance between the second portions of the both slope parts is longer than separation distances between the first portions and between the third portions.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SEALING OF METALS
Disclosed is a hermetically sealed assembly for precompression of a martinsetic metal for use in negative pressure energy transfer systems, and method of making same. The assembly comprising a martinsteic metal disposed between and in contact with sapphire windows.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FABRICATION OF A METAL CUP FOR CREATING AN ANNULAR SEAL WITHIN A WELLBORE
A method of fabricating a metal cup includes a tool having an interior profile of a predetermined shape, the tool having a body forming an inner area; placing a metal sleeve within the inner area of the tool; securing the tool in a closed position such that the metal sleeve is unremovable; applying internal pressure within the inner area and within an inside of the sleeve such that the internal pressure exceeds a yield point of a material comprising the metal sleeve, the metal sleeve deforms into the interior profile; opening the body of the tool; and removing the metal sleeve from the tool in the open position; the metal sleeve maintains a deformed shape having an exterior profile that matches the interior profile of the tool.
