A gaming device and a gaming device recognition method are provided. The method is applicable to an electronic device having an image capturing device, a storage device and a processor, and includes following steps. A captured image of the gaming device is captured by the image capturing device, wherein the gaming device includes a recognition code having anchor grids and recognition grids. Then, a first image is generated by performing image processing on the captured image, and the anchor grids of the first image are recognized. Next, a recognition template is decided according to the anchor grids, wherein the recognition template including code grids and grid numbers of each code grid. Finally, a filled status of each code grid is determined according to the first image, and a tag code corresponding to the recognition code is generated according to the filled status of each code grid and the grid numbers.

A gaming device and a gaming device recognition method are provided. The method is applicable to an electronic device having an image capturing device, a storage device and a processor, and includes following steps. A captured image of the gaming device is captured by the image capturing device, wherein the gaming device includes a recognition code having anchor grids and recognition grids. Then, a first image is generated by performing image processing on the captured image, and the anchor grids of the first image are recognized. Next, a recognition template is decided according to the anchor grids, wherein the recognition template including code grids and grid numbers of each code grid. Finally, a filled status of each code grid is determined according to the first image, and a tag code corresponding to the recognition code is generated according to the filled status of each code grid and the grid numbers.

A method of controlling a user interface having a display area comprising a plurality of game objects. The user interface also displays at least one other object, such as, for example, a displayed score. In a situation where the object at least partially overlay and at least partially obscures at least one of the game objects, then in response to a trigger condition a display characteristic of the object is modified to improve visibility of the at least one displayed game object. The trigger condition is, in one example, detecting user input associated with the at least one game object. The display characteristic of the object is, in one example, a transparency factor of the object. Therefore, it can be ensured that elements or information can be made visible to a user, as required.

A method of controlling a user interface having a display area comprising a plurality of game objects. The user interface also displays at least one other object, such as, for example, a displayed score. In a situation where the object at least partially overlay and at least partially obscures at least one of the game objects, then in response to a trigger condition a display characteristic of the object is modified to improve visibility of the at least one displayed game object. The trigger condition is, in one example, detecting user input associated with the at least one game object. The display characteristic of the object is, in one example, a transparency factor of the object. Therefore, it can be ensured that elements or information can be made visible to a user, as required.

A peripheral device for use in video gameplay includes circuitry for reading information stored in memory of toys placed on the peripheral device, and for providing that information to a computer device upon which gameplay is provided. The peripheral device includes a feature for holding a portable computer device, for example a computer tablet, in a hands free manner during gameplay. The feature may be a notch in the peripheral device, and the notch may be in a protuberance extending from a housing forming the peripheral device. In addition, the housing may provide storage for storing a game controller for use with the video game.

A peripheral device for use in video gameplay includes circuitry for reading information stored in memory of toys placed on the peripheral device, and for providing that information to a computer device upon which gameplay is provided. The peripheral device includes a feature for holding a portable computer device, for example a computer tablet, in a hands free manner during gameplay. The feature may be a notch in the peripheral device, and the notch may be in a protuberance extending from a housing forming the peripheral device.
